No Republican administration has balanced a budget since Eisenhower in 1957.

Dwight Eisenhower was last Republican President to preside over a balanced budget. He had a balanced budget in 1956 and 1957. Since then, there have been two presidents to preside over balanced budgets, LBJ in 1969 and Clinton in 1998 through 2001. During the last 40 years there have been five budget surpluses, all five were under Democratic Presidents: 1969, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.

Colin Powell in four-letter neo-con 'crazies' row
12 September 2004 / http://tinyurl.com/83u3by
A furious row has broken out over claims in a new book by BBC broadcaster James Naughtie that US Secretary of State Colin Powell described neo-conservatives in the Bush administration as 'fucking crazies' during the build-up to war in Iraq.
Powell's extraordinary outburst is alleged to have taken place during a telephone conversation with Foreign Secretary Jack Straw. The two became close friends during the intense negotiations in the summer of 2002 to build an international coalition for intervention via the United Nations. The 'crazies' are said to be Vice-President Dick Cheney, Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his deputy, Paul Wolfowitz.

EXCLUSIVE: CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say

Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex for military back-up during the attack on the U.S. Consulate and subsequent attack several hours later was denied by U.S. officials -- who also told the CIA operators twice to "stand down" rather than help the ambassador's team when shots were heard at approximately 9:40 p.m. in Benghazi on Sept. 11.
Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. Consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to "stand down."
Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the Consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The quick reaction force from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the Consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.

I'm sure that's it, for bigot like yourself, no person of color should be allowed to vote when someone running is of the same race.

Former N.H. Gov. John Sununu has created another unwelcome distraction for the Romney campaign — this time for suggesting that Colin Powell endorsed President Obama because they are both black.

Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and a co-chair of Mitt Romney's campaign, created a stir this summer by telling reporters that he wished Obama "would learn how to be an American." After a flurry of criticism, he backtracked on the comment.

On CNN Thursday night, Sununu again strayed off-message when asked about Powell's endorsement of Obama earlier that day.

“Frankly, when you take a look at Colin Powell, you have to wonder whether that's an endorsement based on issues or whether he's got a slightly different reason for preferring President Obama," Sununu said.

Public thinks Romney lied less than usual, but still a lot
By Victor Balta / current.com [email protected]

After three debates, one thing is clear: a lot of people out there think that Mitt Romney is lying, a lot of the time.

For the third time, we analyzed the public perception of truth during the presidential debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., and for the third time there was a strong representation of opinions that former Gov. Mitt Romney was lying. But this time there was a twist.

Partnering with Crimson Hexagon — which set up a truth monitor exclusively for Current TV — we found this time that 13 percent of the conversation about truth telling focused on President Obama lying. This number is up from 2 percent in the first debate and 3 percent in the second debate.

Pretty good, people don't measure on gaffs, but content. Obama has neither content but still makes gaffs even though every thing is written for him.

"Washington Post endorsement: Four more years for President Obama

... Mr. Obama is committed to the only approach that can succeed: a balance of entitlement reform and revenue increases. Mr. Romney, by contrast, has embraced his party’s reality-defying ideology that taxes can always go down but may never go up.

Along that road lies a future in which interest payments crowd out everything else a government should do, from defending the nation to caring for its poor and sick to investing in its children.

Mr. Romney’s future also is one in which an ever-greater share of the nation’s wealth resides with the nation’s wealthy, at a time when inequality already is growing." WP

Translation: Romney is a greedy con man who believes in magic underpants instead of hard work and responsibility.

FLASH: this just in...

A 660-pound Frenchman who was unable to leave his home by himself has been hospitalised in an operation requiring 20 emergency workers, a truck- mounted crane, and a stone mason. The mason was deployed to widen a second-floor window in the building where the obese 48-year-old man lived. A group of 20 firemen and rescue workers then used a reinforced stretcher normally used in mountain rescues to get the man through the window space and down to ground level using the crane before transferring him to hospital.

The man told local newspaper he had been unable to move from one room of his apartment for the last two years, working for the Romney campaign posting on political forums under various alias including "Le Dumbo".
