Hofstra debate could be McCain's last chance

Barack Obama and John McCain fired their sharpest in-person attacks of the presidential campaign during Wednesday night's presidential debate at Hofstra University .

After moderator Bob Schieffer asked the senators about the increasingly nasty tone of the campaign, McCain for the first time challenged Obama about his association with the 1960s radical Bill Ayers and Acorn, the liberal voter registration group.

I know how the Republicans are trying very hard to rig the election again.

So instead of celebrating, please volunteer to watchdog in your town.

A lot of rich a-holes stand to lose a lot if Obama wins. If someone is making 250,000 and up, then you know they are living beyond their means and it takes dirty politics to refuel the bank account. McCain is one of those people. 13 cars, many homes.

Same as last debate. McCain didn't appear to do/say anything that's going to make up the ground he needs to make up.

Three weeks left. Just wonder if his campaign will become even more negative....though that's hard to imagine that it could become more negative than it already has.

McCain looked so tense during the debate, and nothing to do with his injuries from Vietnam. He interrupted so many times and really looked pissed off. He definitely doesn't like Obama, that's clear by all the faces he made during the debate.

I think it was a fairly even debate over the REAL issues, and McCain didn't do anything to make up ground in the states still hanging in the balance.

I wonder what face he'll pull as he gives his speech concedes the election.

When I fundamentally hear that "both candidates need to stop being negative," I get a tinge of frustration. What people either don't realize or don't want to say is that it is the McCain-Palin ticket that has "gone negative," Obama is simply responding to it. I have yet to see a point when Obama has needlessly attacked McCain on a topic of any kind (much less on a topic of little importance like Ayers). This can fundamentally be linked to the philosophy of both the current Bush Administration and the republican ideology as a whole. This false perception of a threat which leads to an unjustified attack can be analogized to the Bush Administration's philosophy for the last eight years and this is the McCain-Bush relationship that is very real. It is the state of mind and thought towards the external world that ties Bush and McCain together.
