THE sleep has been long and deep. In 2005 Harvard University produced more scientific papers than 17 Arabic-speaking countries combined.

Did anybody give this Muslim Matematician a Nobel Prize yet?
Who invented algebra?
Algebra was invented by the Muslim mathematician Al-Khwarizmi in the book he wrote in 820. Algebra is the Arabic word (aljabr) for "equation", and the word "algorithm" comes from the author's name, Al-Khwarizmi. He is rightly known as "the father of Algebra".
The word "algebra" is named after the Arabic word "al-jabr" from the title of the book [al-Kitāb al-muḫtaṣa r fī ḥisāb al-ğabr wa-l-muqābala',(The book of Summary Concerning Calculating by Transposition and Reduction), a book written by the Muslim mathematician, Muhammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī in 820. The word Al-Jabr means "reunion. In fact, many ancient civilizations developed some sort of algebraic methods of solving problems, as far back as the Babylonians, Diophantus of Alexandria and the Indian mathematicians such as Brahmagupta, but Al-Khwarizmi is considered by many to be the "father of algebra" because some of his techniques on solving quadratic equations are still in use today. He was the first to solve equations using general methods. He solved the linear indeterminate equations, quadratic equations, second order indeterminate equations and equations with multiple variable.
J. J. O'Conner and E. F. Robertson wrote in the MacTutor History of Mathematics archive:
Al-Khwarizmi's algebra is regarded as the foundation and cornerstone of the sciences. In a sense, al-Khwarizmi is more entitled to be called "the father of algebra" than Diophantus because al-Khwarizmi is the first to teach algebra in an elementary form and for its own sake, while Diophantus is primarily concerned with the theory of numbers.
hey you idiot muzzi algebra is invented by indian mathematician Aryabhata , vishu gupt and bhaskarya charya .

Obviously you have not read any biographies of Prophet Muhammad -- who he was, his missions, and his accompolishments. I recommend you to read Michael A. Hart's: A Ranking of the 100 Most Influential Persons in History, where he roughly says that his choice of Prophet Muhammad as the foremost person to top the list might be argued and even rejected by some, but he defended it by saying "He is the only person in history who is supremely successful at both secular and religious levels".
shouldn't we be reading biographies by people like Ibn Ishaq, or Islam's own hadiths, rather than books by infidels like Michael Hart?

I just realize I was responding to a really old post... but nevertheless here's one reason shouldn't use Hart's reasoning:

http://www.bible-quran.com/ahmed-deedat-cruci...

Upon closer examination, Michael Hart does not support Muslim beliefs about Muhammad and the Quran because Hart also wrote:

Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world’s great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader….Muhammad, however, was responsible for both the theology of Islam and its main ethical and moral principles…Moreover, he is the author of the Moslem holy scriptures, the Koran, a collection of certain of Muhammad’s insights that he believed had been directly revealed to him by Allah. Most of these utterances were copied more or less faithfully during Muhammad’s lifetime and were collected together in authoritative form not long after his death. The Koran therefore, closely represents Muhammad’s ideas and teachings and to a considerable extent his exact words.1

Do Muslims believe Muhammad was the author of the Quran? Do Muslims believe Muhammad the founder of Islam?
