(From 'This is the Truth'[video]). Also he said, "Somebody who did not know something about nuclear physics fourteen hundred years ago could not, I think, be in a position to find out from his own mind, for instance, that the earth and the heavens had the same origin."

There have been several such cases in which the modern scientists wondered how come the Prophet of Islam knew about this 1400 some years ago!!!!
Those who read the Qura'an are simply overwhelmed by its scientific revelations.

I doubt it.

If mohammed had spent less time thighing children and more time in school, he might have been able to read the koran too.

Not only was much of that amazement highly overstated, in many cases it turned out that the modern interpretation of what the koran supposedly said is rather contentious.

Most importantly, history shows that muslims often *still* do not hold the views that the koran apologists claim the koran means.

I have read the koran, and I am rather underwhelmed about its "scientific revelations". I see errors. Many errors. Even in the most friendly interpretation still not quite right. A good example is embryology in the koran, which is copy-pasted from Galen, and thus not quite right. There's no shame that the koran repeats the knowledge of the Ancient Greeks, it's better than what most Europeans thought they knew at the time. However, it is not in accordance with modern science.

Quran Clarified 1400 Years Ago That The Earth And Sun Both Revolve

We are living in a highly technology oriented era, the science has progressed so much that now the world has become a global village. Our communications, buying and selling re just a click away. Science explored it far later that the earth and Sun both revolve. Quran on the other hand gave details about the movement of earth, Sun and Moon 1400 years ago.
To be honest, Galileo Galilei (a great scientist) found out that the earth and Sun revolves but at that time this concept was against the belief of Christians. The Christian religious leaders got together and suggested punishment for Galileo Galilei. The Christian leaders were so much frightened by the unleash of this concept that they threatened Galileo Galilei to stop spreading this concept otherwise be prepared for the death penalty.
Quran talks about that how these objects, the earth, Sun and Moon revolves. Allah says in Quran:“And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. And the Moon,- We have measured for her mansions (to traverse) till she returns like the old (and withered) lower part of a date-stalk. It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law)”

And where exactly does it state that the earth moves? It only says the sun and moon move, exactly the same as the christians believed! Of course, if the koran was so right, why did all the islamic astronomers reject the idea of heliocentrism?

They have an answer for it:Misinterpretation.
They don't get Quran correctly until some XYZ scientist puts some theory before the world.
And when he does, they are like,'Oh!This thing is already in Quran.'

Science has always been part of Islam..right up until the rise of the west. Try reading somehisotry books faith...where do you think Europe got all its knowledge after the dark ages..they sure didn't invent it.

Why did you Muslims fail to understand those scientific facts, even when westerners did it on their own?
Wouldn't it have been good if those facts were handed to intelligent people who could have used it properly.
The world would be ahead of what it is now if European scientists had those facts earlier.
Ok,What was the purpose of Allah? Why did he create us?
PS:I have read Quran. Some verses that Muslims claim to be scientific are quite ambiguous and their correlation with science is mere Muslims' interpretation.Surprisingly,th is happened after some men did them on their own.

THE MOON IS FURTHER AWAY THAN THE STARS? THE MOON IS IN THE MIDDLE AND THE STARS ARE LOWER:

QURAN SURA 71:15-16:
'See ye not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another,
'And made the moon a light IN THEIR MIDST, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp'

But stars are in the nearest/lowest part of the universe.

QURAN 37:6
'Surely We have adorned the NEAREST HEAVEN with an adornment, the stars'

It has now been one month since the grieving families of Newtown, Connecticut put their children on the school bus, only to have them never return.

Teachers, of course, were victims too - but all of the lives lost in that American school massacre are just a small fraction of the total number of gun deaths in the United States.

In fact, the number of Americans killed in guns deaths is far larger than the number of those killed in terrorist attacks around the world every year.

In 2010, 13,186 people died in terrorist attacks worldwide; in that same year, in America alone, 31,672 people lost their lives in gun-related deaths, according to numbers complied by Tom Diaz – until recently, a senior analyst at the Violence Policy Center.

JOHN HOWARD ON GUN BAN:

"These national gun laws have proven beneficial. Research published in 2010 in the American Journal of Law and Economics found that firearm homicides, in Australia, dropped 59 per cent between 1995 and 2006. There was no offsetting increase in non-firearm-related murders. Researchers at Harvard University in 2011 revealed that in the 18 years prior to the 1996 Australian laws, there were 13 gun massacres (four or more fatalities) in Australia, resulting in 102 deaths. There have been none in that category since the Port Arthur laws.

A key component of the 1996 measure, which banned the sale, importation and possession of all automatic and semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, was a national buy-back scheme involving the compulsory forfeiture of newly illegal weapons. Between 1996 and 1998 more than 700,000 guns were removed and destroyed. This was one-fifth of Australia’s estimated stock of firearms. The equivalent in the US would have been 40 million guns. Australia’s action remains one of the largest destructions of civilian firearms.

"Australia is a safer country as a result of what was done in 1996. It will be the continuing responsibility of current and future federal and state governments to ensure the effectiveness of those anti-gun laws is never weakened.

The US is a country for which I have much affection. There are many American traits which we Australians could well emulate to our great benefit. But when it comes to guns we have been right to take a radically different path."

John Howard was prime minister from 1996 to 2007.
