We should not be sidetracked the felony charges brought by to the table. You can bet it was done so they have a leverage against the student incase he decides to sue. The DEAL will probably be if he does not sue then the charges will be dropped or reduced.

If it was the other way around and the kid accidentally shot the cop, the kid would be in for life. Funny how that works...
