I think this is great, helping a student that has the desire to go to college get there. Why then is Mifflin County not going to participate in it next year? It doesn't cost the school district anything so why not continue? If it helps one child get to college it is well worth it.

Just stating the facts as they were printed in the Sentinel. You have a problem with that contact them.I don't make these things up.

There are a lot of people in Mifflin County that do not value higher education. I don't say this in a disparaging way, but a guy who grows up on a farm, and makes a decent living, will be less likely to understand the value of higher eductation in a broader context beyond his own world.

You can spot these people because they will say some version of "In my day, we emphasized the 3R's.......I dropped out of school in 9th grade to support my family.........I've got a lot of "common sense"......Book smart people don't have common sense......I don't need no college........etc."

I think he is talking about someone that has a degree in engineering and works at Mickey D's or walmart and the person that dropped out is working at a shop somewhere making three times as much money.
