Pennsylvania's State Supreme Court will hear arguments on redistricting disputes

Democratic lawmakers and citizens upset over the newly approved state House and Senate districts will have their day in court on Monday, when the state Supreme Court is scheduled to hear nine challenges to those maps.

A brief filed in defense of the commission's plan notes that Mr. Brewster's district is the second-least-populated in the commonwealth, making it a prime target for transferring to the more populous northeast.

HARRISBURG -- The seven members of the state Supreme Court heard arguments for four hours today about whether to order changes in the newly redrawn state House and Senate districts, and will make a decision "with all due haste," Chief Justice Ronald Castille said.
