Once again, I guess date.com , match.com and the other online dating sites are not working for you (no surprise there) and now you're using topix.net as your possible dating source. You're pathetic.

I totally agree with you! As the parent of a college student, I have a vested interest in this situation. Illegals are taking up room, space, funding, benefits, food, you name it! If they (the illegals) care to become LEGAL, or change their status to IMMIGRANT (also LEGAL) then they are welcome to join us. But the "illegal" business has to stop.

If they (the illegals) think the USA is so wonderful, then they need to become citizens just like the rest of us. They can pay taxes, vote, get an education just like MY kids.

Remember this day.
I will probably spend my fifties cleaning up the mess made by bigots and nasties like you. Hopefully I will remember tomorrow as the day the USA went back to the principles of fairness and inclusion that made it a great nation, leading and enlightening the world with the book and lamp of Lady liberty.

I am perfectly legal, pay taxes, and have no interest in becoming a citizen. I will educate anyone who asks. Anyway, how many of your child's class-mates are 'illegal"? My guess is zero. Has your child ever been denied anything as a result of these unnamed illegals people keep referring to? The answer is no. I have ben teaching in this country for over twenty years and have only ever seen benefits from having a range of diverse students in the classroom. This whole effort to identify "illegals' is just another version of McCarthyism, spending oodles of government money on a wild goose chase. Anyway, like all the great democracies, this great nation can afford to educate all-comers. As to the chance of "illegals" being terrorists: citizenship is no guarantee someone is not a terrorist... remember Oklahoma City? the Unabomber? the Olympic bombing? David Koresh? the Virginia Tech shootings, etc? Anyway, education is the best way of reducing terrorism.

I am a teacher, an educator, and I see the effects of the 'illegal'situation EVERY DAM* day. I've seen the cost of field trips go up, or the trips be cancelled because the illegals can't pay. Been on the PTA, school board, advisory board, so don't presume to tell me I don't have a clue. YOU are the one that doesn't have a clue. Did I mention anything about you not having a clue? Must be on your mind. As to "the BIG city," let's see, is London big enough for you? New York? Newark, NJ? I have taught in all three and have mainly seen the effects of gross underfunding due to tax-policies that favor the rich and education policies that favor rural and suburban education. I wonder who you are actually referring to with this code-word "illegals."

One does not learn how to be humble in school, doofus. One does learn English skills in schools here in the United States...so if anyone should be in school, it's *you* not me.

Exactly how does one take your comment the "wrong" way? How many ways can one take what you said? <rolls eyes>

Back then, people respected this country, as well as its laws. People now are not respecting this country or its laws. When people coming here change their ways, we must change ours. When people insist on sneaking in rather than doing it the right way, we have to get tough and enforce our laws. We enforce our laws against citizens every day. Illegal aliens are not some special breed that are exempt from our laws. To think otherwise is ridiculous.

See, there's yet another difference between those immigrants from long ago, welcomed at Ellis Island (and other legal ports of entry), immigrants of today (such as yourself) and illegal aliens. We welcome legal immigrants that want to be like the ones from long ago -- who are coming here because they want to be American, not because they want the benefits without pledging allegiance to this country and becoming, for all intents and purposes, American. Our immigration laws should have a time limit on them for legal residents....in other words, become a citizen within "x" number of years, pledging allegiance to *this* country, or your time is up, get on home, and we'll let someone else in who may be more interested in this country and being American. You are not it. Illegal aliens are also not it, as they don't respect this country or its laws from day one. We have enough of our own homegrown morons and disrespectful people who ignore our laws. No need to import more from other countries.

Education is the way forward. If we want to fight terrorism and other global threats where we can be effective in the long-term, we should expand access to democratic education. The American University system across the globe is evidence of the success of inclusive educational practices that spend our wealth on teaching and learning and thus reduce the need to spend money on military containment and occupation. When we education people, illegal or not, we create a future for families to become legal and to contribute fruitfully to our culture; by setting up barriers we perpetuate the siege-mentality that idea that turns the US into a fortress. I came to this country because of the education system and know it will remain the best in the world if we keep it open and democratic.
So does this mean you will pick up the bill for out-of-state tuition for all illegals in the U.S.?

Okay, so name some. Instead of this abstract attack on "illegals," talk about real people with real lives and real children and a real struggle to make it in the world. And then show me exactly how these folk are taking anything from you or yours. Then show me specific examples of specific people who have taken specific resources.
