RE: New Book Aims to Lock the Church's Revolving Door
..... There are very many belief systems all over this planet and anyone in many countries is free to invent some more with supporting literature.
..... However there are many people who have had religious experiences that differed from what the local clergy were preaching. This may have changed their lifestyle and personality, made them "better" people. Never mind what they were told to "believe".

The trappings of the church may be local taste. What is missing is the word preached in such a way that it meets the basic spiritual needs of people -- the forgiveness of sins through faith in Christ. Instead, we hear of salvation through every religion, historic Christianity being denied, social agendas, political agendas, and the Bible being undermined as divine truth. Our local UMC minister even publicly in church and newspaper defiantly denies that God is a trinity, promoting instead a form of uniterianism, specially Modal Monarchianism.
Correct that and UMC members won't be leaving for the community churches. They will have something solid to believe in at their UMC churches.
