Incumbents face serious challenges Tuesday
Dozens of state lawmakers, from some of House Speaker Glenn Richardson's committee chairmen to a floor leader for Gov. Sonny Perdue, face primary tests Tuesday.
House District 9 (parts of Dawson, Forsyth and Lumpkin counties), Republican primary, Rep. Amos Amerson of Dahlonega vs. Dahlonega businessman Steve Gooch
A race between one of Richardson's committee chairmen (Amerson) and Gooch, a friend of Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle's, this one was bound to be a hard-hitting affair.
It's been seen as an example of how the Richardson-Cagle political feud is bleeding into the GOP primaries. Both leaders have raised money for their candidates. Amerson has repeated Richardson's assertion that Georgians should get rid of Cagle, while Gooch has dubbed Amerson a Richardson pawn.

We are long overdue for a change in this office. Amerson has had his 8 years to change things, and to be quite frank, has passed a HUGE tax burden on to the hard working class families and individuals of this district. By repealing the property tax for seniors and the disabled, the difference has to be made up somewhere, and you can bet on a giant property tax increase in the coming year due to Amerson's pandering to the older crowd!!! This is a no brainer, let's get new leadership in there why we can.
