This is as bogus a study as there ever was. Who funded this crap?

I'm no scientist, but I can de-bunk this in one sentence--Remove Oreos from the study and the item that the rats glom onto is the addicting offender.

Oreos = Cocaine?... please!

anything/everything can be addicted to a person, if that person has an "addictive personality". It still escapes me however, Hhow anybody could ever be stupid enough to try drugs like that in the first place! Alcohol and taught is one thing; fermented grain or Greeks, or a week which grows naturally upon the earth. But cocaine and crack and heroin, etc.? I'm sorry, a person just has to be a mental defective to even try that crap once!

This is not as crazy as it sounds. Its a chemical reaction in the brain, as a 30 year chocoholic I have read this several times in past years. Many foods if eated on a regular basis can cause cravings and even mild withdraw symtoms with dietery changes. We are what we eat.

I imagine almost anything food like, margarine, table sugar,
any candy, grain, nuts could have been used though.
The control substances were salt water & rice cakes after all
& they are rats, they will eat you or I alive if necessary down to the last molar if need be ,with no provoking.
Had they used something that was already addicted to cocaine or opium I do not think they would have stopped for the oreo on the way to the next fix.
This can be picked apart a lot further, showing the same substances cfo proteins that are activated are also activated by many, many things, including pain.
I have no doubt the sugary treats are addictive, but placing them in the same category as cocaine is way off base. need further proof, find 100 junkies that haven't eaten in a week, tell them you will give them a fix for their bag of oreo's. Rick

My name is sLy and I'm an Oreo junky, started out as a baby dunking them in milk, then ate them straight as I grew into my teens, tried smoking them a few times but they gum up the pipe really bad so now I just snort them....
What a rush!

With all due respect I found Oreos
very tasteless compared with Irish biscuits.

Imagine being addicted to oreos and being lactose intolerant.

I mean, you just can't eat those things without a glass of milk, right?

Here's a list of items that I prefer to Oreos (even the Dubl-stuffed ones):

.Mallomars
.Moon Pies (or Scooter Pies)
.Vienna Fingers
.Drake's Devil Dogs
.Entenmann's chocolate doughnuts

Now get back, all of you! I want an airplane and six dollars for dessert, or I'll press this button and destroy every last Oreo cookie!

The freezer is the last place where I would look for intense excitement.
