OpEd: Intolerance thrives in Palin's Pacific Northwest

Full story: www.philly.com

Despite her efforts to portray herself as an average, small-town, "folksy" American, Sarah Palin's political views - ardently pro-gun, pro-censorship, antichoice and antigay - make John McCain's conservative credentials pale in comparison. What few observers have said, however, is these beliefs are not just extreme - they are radical, and even bear a comparison with some of the most notorious "rural radicals" of our time.

This makes Palin the ideal candidate for angry white people. If that is all that votes in this election, the Palin/McCain ticket is a shoe in.

I'm not sure how to combat this kind of hate. I have a dear friend who confessed to me the other day that she isn't voting for Obama because he's African American. I was heart broken -- the issues don't matter when folks are blinded by racism and fear.

Palin attends a church that believes Jews deserve terrorism as punishment for rejecting Christ.

And her husband is a holocaust denier.

Denying the Holocaust is right up there with faked moon shots and alien abductions. Pass the tin foil to anyone who does that, they'll need it for their hats.

Who CARES about this article?! Why aren't the Topix editors posting that fact that even TODAY John McCain and George W. BUST are saying the "fundamentals" of the economy are strong.

How out of touch is this guy?! For people with 401Ks and retirement plans tied up in the stock market,

"The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled below 11,000 with a 4.42 percent loss to 10,917.51, ITS LARGEST ONE-DAY POINT LOSS SINCE THE REOPENING AFTER THE SEPTEMBER 2001 TERRORIST ATTACKS."

McCain is AMAZINGLY moronic!!

I think alot of America is increasing finding it harder to tolerate Republican incompetence and mismanagement of the country. I guess the more shit you smear on yourself like perfume the worse the smell gets.

You forgot McCains buddy, Reverend Haggee.
He calls Catholics all kinds of obscene names, and believes that the Holocaust never happened. I guess in your book that is OK since McCain is Republican.
You are King of selective outrage.

wow. you say its ok cuz mccain is republican? Obama has hardly done anything, and already has worse associations than mccain does. its all good, though, since the media is in his pocket. And no, Palin's husband does not deny the holocaust.parlo is either extremely stupid, misinformed, or just someone who loves making up random crap and posting it. And the reverand was taken out of context. For clarification, its not the kind of "taken out of context" some democrats use an excuse. Not the "God d### America" or the "putting lipstick on a pig" taken out of context excuses. Both of those were completely IN context. read wright's entire speech.

I really think this article is something to be taken seriously. Read carefully. We all should be getting very scared. Get out there and help elect Barack Obama. Save this country now.
Sarah Palin is a lot of talk. And does it well.
Too radical. Her views are dangerous. Some people are easily swayed. Don't let this happen.
I hope there is enought time left before November for people to see the real picture. Enough time for the truth to be seen.. Support the Democratic ticket. Obama/Biden '08

This is where the desperate blitz come from. We will see this for the next 50 days...

McCain is leading or closing the GAP on Obama in some liberal states such as NY and tied in Minnesota. The Democrats are shaking in their boots right about now.

McCain/Palin 2008. They WILL make history come November. Palin WILL be the FIRST female president and I just cannot wait until they're sworn in. Continue to kick some AZZ Gov. Palin!

McCain's buddy Haggee lives and preaches in Austin Tx.
McCain is not nor never was a member of Haggee's congregation nor attended his sermons. Obama was of Wrights.

McCain did have a breakfest meeting with Haggee. Bill " The Terrorist" Ayers ran 2 fund raisers for Obama at Ayers home.

An endorsement connects McCain with Haggee a whole net and network connects Obama with Ayers , Wright and Farahkan.

McCain sought out his endorsement, but then had to reject it when the firestorm started.
Oh I get it. You are one of those crackpots who wants to focus on Obamas church but think that Palins and McCains connections are off limits.
You probably want to focus on Barney Frank too, while ignoring Mark Foley, Larry Craig, and Ted Haggard. Meanwhile you are attracted to little boys, like most of you right wing crackpots are. But thats off limits too, because you are Republican.
Stay away from my kids. CREEP!

If she is going to be the first female President in Nov 2008 we should all be shaking in our boots - including McCain. Hunting accident or choking on a bbq rib?:-)

Another racist! Also, I was born and raised in Chicago, lived there 45 years. There is a Daley machine, and it runs the city pretty well, considering the size and differences of the population. Both the Daleys (I've lived through both of them) may not be perfect, but they've done well for Chicago.

LOL! I lived there too, and yes the Daley and Union machine run that city, but not well for the people who live there. I was too young to see Joe Kennedy buy the votes for Jack, but saw Daley's machine after that. Waste, curruption, skimming, etc. That is why I was'nt surprised by Obama turning out to be just another Daley wanna be. As far as Alaskans being Intolerant, I would say liberals are the MOST Intolerant people I have ever met. Unless you agree 100% with them, if not, they will use every dirty trick they can think of to bring you down, and that brings us right back to the Daley dynisty.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Capricorn

Confusion reigns supreme today, especially when dealing with financial matters. You could get into a muddle when sorting out your accounts or when working out how much you owe someone, even though you may not notice this at the time. It certainly isn't the day for parting with large sums of money because the chances of something going wrong are very high.
