Why the Rich Don't Give to Charity
The wealthiest Americans donate 1.3 percent of their income; the poorest, 3.2 percent.
When Mort Zuckerman, the New York City real-estate and media mogul, lavished $200 million on Columbia University in December to endow the Mortimer B. Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute, he did so with fanfare suitable to the occasion: the press conference was attended by two Nobel laureates, the president of the university, the mayor, and journalists from some of New York’s major media outlets.
Many of the 12 other individual charitable gifts that topped $100 million in the U.S. last year were showered with similar attention: $150 million from Carl Icahn to the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, $125 million from Phil Knight to the Oregon Health & Science University, and $300 million from Paul Allen to the Allen Institute for Brain Science in Seattle, among them.
If you scanned the press releases, or drove past the many university buildings, symphony halls, institutes, and stadiums named for their benefactors, or for that matter read the histories of grand giving by the Rockefellers, Carnegies, Stanfords, and Dukes, you would be forgiven for thinking that the story of charity in this country is a story of epic generosity on the part of the American rich.

“Obama Shames the USA”

Obama and Biden were the biggest cheapskates on earth until the presidential run. Check it out. Obama even took a deal with Rezko to save a few bucks. Obama heap as hell when it comes to his own money. He gave next to nothing until advised to give more to avoid embarrassment.

The Rich Left believe that Big Brother should control every aspect of our lives. That is the only reason why Rich Dems give so much less than rich Repubs to Charity.
They think Charity is "too American" and must be shunned.

I disbelieve the above comments.
For a fact, Wealthy people are obligated to 60% spenddown of their interest bareing account, to a local charity of their selection, or one will be appointed to them.
They have to pay 30 someodd % like the rest of the civilians. As well they may be paying a local church or other occult memebership BOOK READERS CLUB BIKER CLUB RAGALLA YAGHT CLUB CASINO 30% of thier fiscal budget as well.
Where did they NOT pay in?
YOur jealous it was not delivered to YOUR OWN DOOR that is all, no shame "you greaty begger".
In MAdiosn Wisc most of our Famous Philanthropist can't stand you, so they do Free Monies to funeral expense for local homeless and other causes of family geneology hate cirmes(federal offense death row if caught) I have my name and my childrens on their wish list and guidence at Sleepy Hollow groups by Lafollette Highschool.
PLUS RED FLAGGED prison for all who try to collect policies with me or my chidlren name, They all abused us, robbed and raped and set up attempted murder and Harmed our heads, hit them paid people to hit them since we are truamatic Brain Injury family by birth and injuries. Let them rot in prison and if they get out early transport out of our sight to a rehabilitation center in another location to learn how to be a civil human being.

The rich pay more than anyone in taxes, they are giving to charity in a sense, as it is supporting Welfare&Foodstamps.

Well they put in otherwise.
Although for Madison Wisc. CIty Police Department pays $35,000 out of local civilans funds in philanthropy for funeral expense, and The Philanthropists do the rest $35,000-60,000 for their whole life to be public memorandums like a huge moseleum for them on thier life of nature, conversation, protection on the streets from UW drunkin kids. etc They hire psychics and spirtualist groups and any groups the homeless person had interest in and create a fund in thier honor as the major sponser TITLE for historic honors of the homeless funds going into philanthropy as the Institutes major funder. So they never remain namesless.
Personally a small 2 bedroom house with a base ment to "build" is still 12,000-28,000 PERIOD and thier mortagage would be $15 a month and total bills and septic and garbage would be probably $550 a month to own and $1000 in taxes in the beginning of the year. BUT NO LETS WAIT UNTIL DEATH INSTEAD WHatever
