For those of us who've experienced a few of these big storms in our lifetime, it would seem that it's just one of those things to be expected.

All bad weather is caused by "Global Warming" in fact, most bad things these days are a result of "Global Warming" and more to the point, most enjoyable human activities cause "Global Warming".

No singular meteorlogical event, can be directly attributed the global CLIMATE CHANGE. Only long term trends.

I like Michio Kaku, I have read his books on physics that are tailored to the general public. Even got to answer one of his radio questions one time.

But I don't think he understands climate, in fact if I were an AGW, I'd have to call his degree specialty not relevant to climatology.

If you want a look at the weather to come, look back at the 60s. The PDO is in it's negative phase, this is an occillation of about 30 years and when in the negative phase we experience more intense and more frequent La Ninas, which produce the type of weather we are seeing now.

Add to that the very low TSI from our sun, and the shift of the MOC into a negative phase and the result is cooler temps. The first part of this phase will have more precipitation as the climate systems 'wring out' the moisture. If as predicted, the cold persists, the sun doesn't 'ramp up', then less moisture will be present in the atmosphere and therefore less rain/snow.

Your Bachelor of Science is in what field & maybe a minor.....your Masters..... how much research for your PHD....how many years of post-doc work & research for how many peer-reviewed papers......

Don't answer. You are 'fun farts' researching the 'butt----erfly effect'.

AGW deniers love to hide behind the word singular, as pertaining to it's usual first definition. According to its following definitions, AGW can possibly be attached to the word 'singular'.

Lite,

I am neither a denier, nor "hiding" behind anything. The fact is, that any "honest" climatologist would acknowledge. That no one localized WEATHER event, is evidence for, or against CLIMATE change.

Weather or not global warming is from fossil fuels or not oil is a finite resource. We should save some for some future cold days.

Conseration and common sense is in direct opposition to the 'exploitation' driver in capitalism. Actually owning a resource (for an appropriately low fee)is a little like the 'tragedy of the commons' in that the most short term benefit comes from rapid extraction, regardless of long term consequences ( which generally cost someone ELSE ).

Of course, the huge winter storms are caused by the beginnings of AGW. Extra warmth (energy) is causing warm fronts to push strongly into the Arctic.

The warm fronts are energetically pushing Arctic dry fronts to the south. Meeting wet fronts in the south, the Arctic fronts produce massive quantities of snow.

Similar occurrences (differently configured) were predicted for the Antarctic in 2002, reconfirmed in 2005 & also coming true in the extra snows & sea ices of the Antarctic.

Its easy to understand.
