Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

"Any person who ... encourages or induces an alien to ... reside ... knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such ... residence is ... in violation of law, shall be punished as provided ... for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs ... fined under title 18 ... imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

I agree! That's why it should be the law that they all return to her homeland with her.

Liliana's crime of stating that she was an American citizen was simply "foolishness" and her punishment, which is to be returned home from the country she snuck into illegally is "excessive"-

I think the esteemed Rev. Alexia Salvatierra, executive director of CLUE in California, should go with the deported ones and start a church.. she should certainly tend her flock.
Excessive?

Try stating you're a citizen of Russia, China, etc. and see what laws they use against you. I'm fed up with the B.S. excuses and crying.

"About 15 people attended the conference and training session, which was designed to foster awareness of the movement and discuss ways to prevent illegal immigrants with spouses and children who are U.S. citizens from being deported"
Really? 15 people?

Here's the quote from the article-
She argued that although they are classed as felons for entering the U.S. illegally and, in Liliana's case, of falsely stating that she was an American citizen, they are not really guilty of any crime except foolishness and that the punishment being handed out to them under the law is excessive.
