According to the news, an employee of the expensive taxpayer funded Cal State University was crushed by a malfunctioning elevator. I believe I speak for the rest of us when I send my heartfelt condolences to her family.

Long Beach revolutionary Council has been using hard earned taxpayer money to promote "the healthy lifestyle" among overtaxed and underrepresented long Beach who must pay the cost of such "programs". Keeping that in mind, I must say I was completely surprised to hear old fashioned 20th century technology is still being used as a means of moving people between floors of the university's relatively low-profile building.

As reported in "The Daily 49er", a taxpayer funded publication of the university, one taxpayer subsidized university student remarked:

"I took the stairs in the library today and so did many others. There was no one waiting for the elevators, but everyone crowded the stairs. They were packed and everyone was out of breath, talking about the incident."

"However, around noon, fewer students were spotted taking the stairs."

In this modern age when Government and local revolutionary Councils presume to dictate to hard working overburdened taxpayers what they are permitted to eat, how much exercise should be required of them, and what they should be permitted to season their increasingly foul tasting digestive tract upsetting Government authorized processed genetically modified factory foods, it is unbelievable that our local taxpayer funded university authorities do not close down "yesterday's technology" - the elevators.

Were elevator era ended, not only would the city's carbon footprint be reduced, but taxpayer subsidized students would be free to enjoy leading a more healthy lifestyle as well. Little taxpayer subsidized students would no longer be "getting out of breath" after walking up or down a flight or two of stairs.
