It's unfortunate that councilmember Gary DeLong might be psychotic, and tragic that he apparently doesn't have the emotional maturity to hold the position of either the city council or congress.

I hope he gets some professional help before someone gets hurt.

Just because DeLong supported imposing Lowenthal grocery and goods bag harassment taxes on the overtaxed and underrepresented minority of Long Beach grocery shoppers who pay taxes is no indication that he is psychotic.

DeLong is quite the male peacock. The more he struts around town, the more we see his true colors. Physical harm coming from the DeLong campaign? Not surprised. The desperation coming from the right is getting to be extremely disturbing. Gary tries to distance himself from Republicans yet he's in bed with the most staunch, right-winged, money men of the lot.

Getting your wealthy, elderly friends to put up your banners on their house isn't going to win you this election, Gary.

Just like holding your council meetings midday/midweek at the exclusive LB yacht club didn't get your district to like you.

Alas, good luck to you if that poor innocent woman decides to press charges against you and your peeps. And you should probably familiarize yourself with the laws before you go around town labeling someone a stalker when they are not.:)

We must take care not to throw that baby out with the bathwater. After all, DeLong is not a Lowenthal ("Big")

True, the last Republican candidate to describe himself - as DeLong does - as a "maverick" was "Bigtax" McCain who ran for president on the Republican ticket in 2008.

McCain was a 25 year long two pack cigarette smoker. After quitting, "Bigtax" acted like a former drunk who quit drinking and then "got religion" only to become an evangelical tent meeting preacher. There was not a tax proposed to be suffered upon decent worker ("middle") class women and men who enjoyed the simple worker class pleasure of an occasional tobacco product that Bigtax McCain didn't support.

The result was that most decent voters who smoked tobacco were unwilling to vote for an African - it had nothing to do with race - but they could not bring themselves to vote for the White candidate, McCain, because of the deplorable behavior they had faced at his hands. Instead they didn't vote for either the African or the White candidate. The outcome of the election was that the African won, and the economy is as we see it today.

Let us hope if the non-Lowenthal candidate is elected by decent tobacco smokers and non-smokers of good-will alike, that he does not turn out to be "a maverick" of the McCain ("Big") mold.

This is very disturbing because it happened at a public forum with a large number of people from both parties were present. It's not like DeLong was filmed at his house or while dropping a deuce in the men's room.

If he gets rattled by a benign incident like this, how can he competently represent Long Beach in Congress? He should step down now.

I understand what you are trying to say, but why don't we get real? The electioneering behavior of the pro-Lowenthal people cannot be separated from the typical behavior of the rest of the radical 60s 70s era revolutionary social activists that have caused so much damage to society. Like their early 20th century revolutionary predecessors, one of their favorite tactics is to provoke incidents and then to claim victim-hood.

I did not attend the event where this "claimed to have been" incident occurred, but like any other person of average normal intelligence I can well imagine being the victim of an aggressive "in your face" stalker at every public event would cause anyone to eventually snap. Was that not the intent of the stalker? It's a laugh that activists within the Lowenthal camp are now claiming to be the victim.

The now minority of Long Beachers who pay taxes have had no representation ever since Admiral Hosmer represented the 32nd Congressional District. Isn't it about time for change? Long Beachers now are represented by a "double dipper". They do not want the expense of paying for triple-dipping.

Excellent point! It can be expected that the partisan pro-Lowenthal increased tax advocates will be coming "out of the woodwork", "claiming" to be eyewitnesses to the DeLong stalker so as to portray the stalking and the harassment of the poor guy in a favorable politically correct light. Even the children know there is no way for them to "prove" they are telling the truth. More likely they merely picked up clues from reading Government licensed "news" organs.

Even so, that is besides the point. The 60s 70s have long been over. Most of us believed after they returned home from Haight-Ashbury and and went to work the revolutionary activists would outgrow their childish antics and stop their harassment of the greater community. Sadly, this has not proven to have been the case. In fact, those of them who were able to reproduce their own kind merely passed their tendency toward disruptive behavior on to their children - most of whom are unable to find work today because their high paid revolutionary parents refuse to step aside.

Come on Ronald. Gary DeLong knew what was at stake and he ripped a cell phone out of the hands of a woman at an event sponsored by a woman's league. All she was doing was filming him. Even Lowenthal stated that DeLong hires trackers to follow him.

I have a little inside info on Gary and let me tell you this, all his phony supporters, who only support him because of possible business connections if he gets elected, are all frauds. She is "stalking" me? He needs to know the legal definition of stalking is to be in credible fear of harm and I'm sorry but being videotaped on a cell phone is not stalking by its legal definition. Then again, I can't expect much from someone who got his college degree from Cal State Dominguez Hills. I had no idea our world leaders came from schools who will accept someone with a high school GPA of 2.0.

So this is how Gary DeLong who claims to have run successful businesses handles crisis situations? By ripping a cell phone out of the hands of a woman knowing full well what was at stake?

I know who this guy lives by. He lives by people with zero integrity and character. He lives by people who cheat on their wives like it's fashionable. he lives by people who teach their kids having 1,500 Facebook friends is more important than having 5 real friends in life you can always count on. Birds of a feather flock together. Gary Delong's true colors came out the other night, and there is more to come. I can only hope this woman sues him for assault or better yet attempted theft. That would be sweet justice for me personally knwoing what this guy is all about; Himself.

I'm not a Lowenthal supporter. I'm a supporter of having quality representation in office. This guy is full of shit. He's no "maverick". He will turn concervative once elected because he'd want more. If you support people with questionable character because they are "republican" then we need competency tests to be administered and passed before people like you have the right to vote.

This is the best pre-election story since that ex-cop running for mayor of LB got caught with his pants down -- literally -- while pleasuring another man in Griffith Park.

The stalking and political harassment of DeLong (the non-Lowenthal candidate) is not merely a local matter. It is part of a nationwide plan that is consistent with Obama extorting his followers to "get in their faces to argue with them". The idea is to prevent any viewpoint other than their own from being heard. Such behavior is right out of the 60s 70s revolutionary era. The objective of the revolutionary camp is to end free speech as we know it, just as it always has been ever since the revolutionaries came to power.

It was so embarassing to have Laura Richardson as Long Beach's main representative in the House. But this guy is so wack, he makes Richardson look like Margaret Thatcher in comparison.

Yes. The children often remind me that "Big Daddy" Lowenthal is one of the most powerful members of the free-spending out-of-control anti-consumer anti-taxpayer California legislature. I always tell them that the Lowenthal gangs' Lowenthal grocery and goods bag harassment tax that is imposed on their moms and dads is small-change compared with the effect on ordinary overtaxed worker ("middle") class Californians who have fallen victim to the legislatures' criminalization of hard working "low operating margin" service station owners who import low priced gasoline from non-California controlled States.

I could see this woman "stalking" GDL if he was out with his family in a private setting, but he hires trackers to follow his opponent around. The guy is a hypocrite. He wanted to talk "business" opportunities for the people who support him and because he couldn;t make a business contact becuse the camera was on he got flustered. He's in this for himself, not the community. He let money get in the way of what really matters in life. There's a warm place in hell waiting for GDL. You can count on that win or lose.
