Rotary Club fireworks show set

Jun 27, 2010 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Paris Texas

Celebrating the Fourth of July is an event Americans look forward to each year. That couldn't be more true for the members of two Paris Rotary Clubs, who coordinate the free fireworks display for the public.

No cost, but there will be people out passing buckets around for donations to help fund next years show.

I think we will pass this year..last year it took more time to get a drink at the sonic than it did for the show. i know things like this are expensive ut if you can not afford to put one on then don't..

at least paris does something... it may be a quick show but DONATIONS and fund raisers pay for the show... give the rotary your paycheck friday so the show will last a little longer. the rotary groups raise money for a lot of functions not just the fireworks show so all be it small its a time we can come together as a city and celebrate this time. if you still think otherwise got get some sparklers n sit in your front yard and knock yourself out. happy 4th everyone...

I agree - but some tend to forget that the fireworks are just PART of the show. If you are looking for something longer for entertainment, go find a seat at the stadium and enjoy the band performance. I haven't heard, but in previous years there have been sky divers that land at the stadium and other things to entertain.

The Rotary show is always the night before the 4th. It is ashamed that Roxton and others in the area don't coordinate better. This is the 25th Annual Rotary show and with the municipal band, scout color guard, skydivers, choreographed music with the show, Noyes Stadium is the place to be. I know the show is going to cost the Rotary Clubs over $12,000 and there are many individuals and corporate supporters who make it all worth while. Realize we have the longest running municipal band in the STATE!
I've been to Roxton many years ago and I enjoyed the show, but to say it is longer than Paris is not a correct statement. For years, members of the Roxton/Brookston VFD shot them off and they weren't 'timed and shot to music'...The Rotary show will be 12-13 minutes long and the radio stations said you can listen to the music in sync with the explosions on 96.3 or 1490.
I'm gonna be in the stadium so I can get the full benefit. Nothing is more patriotic to hear the band play the theme song for each branch of the service and the men and women who served or are still in active/reserve duty stand to honor their particular branch. It gives me cold chills to see our Country being honored in such as respectful way!
