First line:

"Let me clearly state that I am no fan of Intelligent Design. The theory of evolution has served us well in helping to explain the expansion of the universe and the development of life on earth"

I stopped there

I made the mistake of reading on. I stopped shortly after:

"Rather than proselytize his atheism, professors such as Jerry Coyne should spend more time speaking out against the abuse of the theory of evolution, as occurred in the early 20th century when social Darwinism was used to justify European white supremacy, eugenics, and the extermination of Jews, gypsies and people with disabilities."

He neglected to explain that these acts were performed by Christians.

He is "trying to" defend some of the actions of atheists and believers in evolution, which he could not see are not the same group necessarily, and could not see how his group was guilty of far worse.

He is not a friend of science, he is just another mistaken fool with false dichotomies.

If their position (ID/Creationism) is so 'obvious', why the need for the blatant dishonesty and outright lies to promote/defend it?

Oh, that one is easy.

It is because without blatant dishonesty and outright lies creationists have nothing.

Well, their target audience has always been ready and willing to be told what to believe while they're being fleeced
