My 15 yr. old son is being home schooled because of all the complications he had at school. It seems to work out just fine. He is doing way better without all the other distractions.

It goes back to the old saying, "Parents are the best teachers."

My wife is a public school teacher, that said I believe in homeschooling kids, if there was some type of standard in place. (ie take a grade placement test or MEAP at the end of every year). Just to ensure the kids are getting a good education. Iíve seen parents, I would not trust to train my dog, home schooling kids. The kids appeared to be pre-teen early teen ages and couldnít read 2nd grade books. Iíve also seen mid-teens pass college entrance exam and clep out of freshman classes. To which I say bravo to the parents. But those bottom ones I fear for.

The school systems are jealous that parents can actually do a better job at teaching the kids. They are also affraid that non-unionized homescooling would be healthy for the nation and better use of tax money by providing tax deductions to homeschooling families.
