Strange case.

University tuition in Canada isn't cheap, perhaps mommy ran out of fund to last the son through the next semester. Couldn't face the prospect of meeting him empty handed.

Or was planning to abscond on her upcoming trip with some liberated cash from state coffer but got caught and took the less humiliating way out to spare the family.

Any thoughts?

You are getting waaay ahead of yourself there. The case has not even been classified as suicide.

The Chinese media is now reporting that the deceased called the local equivalent of 911 shortly before her death.

It could well be a murder, by the self proclaimed communist, fake populists, who saw wealth disparity as social injusticie, blaming their own failure on the society in large, and bitterly slash out against people of power, even those in minor position.

Solitary courage through worked-up indignation justified or not. This seems to sum up the average contributor to here or other political style discussion sites.

The verdict of suicide does not remove all the questions.

The method used is extreme for a person not exactly without means. Even for a jilted woman. It would seem to suggest a time and space constraint; the room where she last found herself the final refuge the only way out of which have to be by self defenestration.

The official line is it did not involve economic/official malfeasance. However the son's tuition in Canada cannot be overlooked. Nor her planned trip to join him. And the visit the night before to her mother could be significant also as evidence, if there's any, could be so got rid of.

That brings us back to that last room. What, or who's trapping her inside?

"Before the result of investigation was published, reports said Ni had an angry argument with her husband before her death. Ni's son, who was studying overseas, had sent a mobile text message asking his parents to “stay calm”. A security guard surnamed Shen also said that he heard people quarreling when he passed the doorway of Ni's home."

The case read straight forward and simple enough, while the cynical is still using colorful imagination to go about a wild goose chase.

That's presuming knowledge of the nature of the 'argument', isn't it.

Straight forward, simple it may sounds, but not as good as watertight.

Lol, guess you didn't at all get the point of my statement. It's for you, and your character assassination against someone who you know absolutely nothing of, but then again, you have an agenda to drivel.

Awfully presumptious of you here. Not to mention overlooking of at least two important facets.

1/The mettle of a cadre. For women cadres even who attain such height(in career that is) might there not be a glaring lack of tolerance for pressure on display here? One would suppose she could have coped better.

2/The lack of explanation regarding the son's overseas tuition against the background of commonplace official corruption.

Merely following legitimate lines of inquiry.

Look who is being presumptive, continuing your political drivel based purely on assumption. Oversea study is no longer that exotic and unaffordable in today's China. And for whom doesn't understand the difference between work pressure and emotional family distress, what else is there to say?

Generalized beliefs are all very well but without that all important factual connect ultimately fails to close the all important gap between what is a working assumption at best and a valid conclusion. One would then have to fall back on a necessary dose of healthy skepticism.

What you coined skepticism, is nothing but cynicism, although I doubt you are a cynic but only appropriate it here to serve your political agenda.
