We had a not so pleasent experiance the 1st time at Canton Bistro. So, I decided we would give it a wurl once again. After all, the 1st time the only thing that went wrong was that we never got anything to drink.

For my sons 19th birthday party, the family thought it would be a nice place to celebrate.
We were greeted by our waiter that said it was awsome to see us out. That we would have an awesome dinner. The awesome part was that after hearing that 5 times, we all begain to count how many more time he was going to awesome us. Only 34 more times.
By the time the 1st dinner was served to last last dinner, the 1st meal was and had been done for a few. My party of 10 didn't get hot meals. The ice water was cold.
Thinking my $$ of over 400.00 would have been better spent else where.

No hot meal? That's because they're too busy serving up liquor and sending out drunks to the parking lot. There's a fight or obnoxious jackhole at that place every night. Avoid it.

My wife and I went the Redlands Canton and had a fine experience. The food was served "warm" to "hot" and tasted very fresh. The wings were really good and so was about everything. Would definitely go again.... getting hungry just typing here.:)

Didn't try the food, but my friends did and I can definite see the need in prompt service. They need real waiters that can remember orders and recommend menu items.

what a refreshing, superlative addition to the city of redlands! Food, service, quality, ambience, It's AlLL there at Canbton Bistro. If you haven't tried it, your missing wone of the truly great experiences in oriental cuisine. They also have a full bar with one of the most extensive selections of sake I have seen!! A real winner.

We tried the Canton Bistro even after reading the negative comments. We should not have wasted our money...the service was terrible and our entire party got food poisoning. I have to agree with the last post. There are so many better places to eat...save your money and eat at home.

I can tell you why the service sucks, why everything is AWESOME and why your waitress looked hungover.

Canton Bistro hires people by their looks (muscles, spray tans, silicone and BLEACH!) and not their qualifications. I once received an email saying that they were hiring. The job post stated the they were looking for 'young, cute females, ages 21-30 to work at our restaurant/bar. Experience prefered, but not necessary.' Im over 30, on the chubby side but come with a friendly, upbeat personality AND 10+ years experience. I DID NOT HAVE A SHOT.

Im not sure what/who these people think they are, but their chinsy dancefloor, overly expensive drinks, crappy food and meat-head security is for the BIRDS!

BTW...this restaurant is a franchise and owned by someone with the last name Garcia.

Actually, MamaBee, Canton Bistro is not owned by someone named Garcia. Read the info behind it. Its owned by a Canton native named Ly. Besides, the guys nice and the restaurants just up and started. The food is great. I do understand that the service is lacking, but I believe they are making changes and trying to get their staff up to speed. I've been to alotta restaurants, especially sushi bars and clubs and this is a top notch pick. The best sushi I have ever had.

Well, when I called the 'owner' to state my concern about the job posting the lady i spoke with was named Garcia and she stated she was the owner.

Id much rather go to a place that has mediocre food and outstanding service any day!

MamaBee, I believe you've dialed the wrong number, please get your info right before you post a negative comment. The restaurant is owned by Chef Ly, but what if it is owned by a person name Garcia?

Canton does not hire people by their looks, I've noticed some people who work there are a bit overweight and some do not carry the best facial features. Most likely, they were fully-staffed.

heres the job posting:
Canton Bistro Night Club looking 4 cute, friendly, female bartender
Reply to: aseraj2001@yahoo.com
Date: 2008-01-23, 12:32PM

Redlands finally brings about a real nightlife venue with state of the art sound, lighting, huge capacity dance floor, and late night dining with impeccable sushi and Chinese cuisine till 2:00 AM 7 days a week! Canton Bistro is now open! We are looking for a young (21 - 30 ), cute, friendly, outgoing female bartender to work Monday – Friday from 11AM – 4:00 PM. Experience necessary, but not required. You will be the only bartender during those times and hence, a great opportunity for some good daytime cash! Weekend shifts will also possibly be available in due time. Please email any type of resume, work experience, photos and myspace, etc to:: aseraj2001@yahoo.com

In addition, we are looking for cocktail waitresses to work Fri and Sat night from 10:00 – 2:00 AM. Cocktail waitresses will also be asked to serve shots and specialty drinks as a shot girl. Cocktail waitresses or servers will also periodically work with liquor companies in co promo opportunities….. Please email any type of resume, work experience, photos and myspace, etc to:: aseraj2001@yahoo.com

And it doesnt matter if its owned by a person named Garcia. It was reference JIC someone needed it. The whole 'Canton' co may have originated from Chef Ly, but like I said...it is a franchise and the one in Redlands is co-owned by Ms. Garcia.
