Full story: Chicago Tribune

Pope Benedict XVI said on his way to Africa today that condoms were not the answer in the continent's fight against HIV, his first explicit statement on an issue that has divided even clergy working with AIDS ...

As long as people in Africa don't have pre-marital sex, or cheat on their wives it's a great idea! Oh wait...

When will it be, when the Vatican becomes extinct? Face reality. Abstinence will not, and never has worked. To come out against condoms is irresponsible and reckless.

Benedict: come out of your ivory tower. You are impeding the battle against HIV/AIDS by speaking out against condom use to a population whose sexual mores do not include monogamy, chastity and abstinence. Talk about Dark Ages!

What we need to is strengthen the AIDS virus so it kills you in about a day. Failing that, use the Hoof and Mouth disease treatment. Either way if people would listen and do what the Pope says, STDs would almost disappear.
I said dismissing the use of condoms is irresponsible. Abstinence, I repeat, will not happen. Not in Africa, America, or in the Vatican.

What great logic! Next I heard The Pope is giving his strategy on ending the diabetes epidemic in the U.S. I think he wants us to all give up food!

But, it will help keeping it in control.
These people need education, the Pope isn't an educator. He is a elected leader...of a biased group of people.

Actually, I am beginning to think of this POPE in the same way I think of those who think the Koran should be part of the laws of a country.

Meaning, I don't think much of him.

Like the Pope knows ANYTHING aboiut STD's. What a crock. Wearing a condom will most certainly help stagnate the spread of the virus.

And in the meantime, this horse's hind end excuse for a human being has just given license to the whoring husband to infect his probably innocent wife. One of the few times I've wished there were a hell - so Ratzinger could rot in it.

Hello, hello everybody! It's true the people in Africa need education-- a knowhow on how to combat AIDS, if condom is not the solution. Who told you that the Pope is not an educator? He is a professor all his life that's why he is elected as a leader. A Spiritual leader, so to say, for the vast Roman Catholic faithful.

Melody, the pope is not elected by all Catholics, only the College of Cardinals gets to vote. And they are appointed by the pope - it's an incestuous circle.

Condoms will do a heck of a lot more than prayer. When will this religion come out of the dark ages?

We know the pope hates Jews, Muslims, and now we learn he's also racist. Telling Africans to stay away from condoms is like telling a child to use gasoline to put out a fire.

Somebody ought to impeach this Nazi clown!

In Germany i know a few who knows their mother but afraid to reveal the FATHER.

Yes and a vow of abstinence has been easily and religously followed by the many hundreds of criminal Clergy as they sexually abused the young men that were entrusted to their care.
This Pope is full of B.S. and should also be charged with enabling this sex abuse scandal.

There's a reason you're a "NiteClerk", or something as pathethic as that: you're an a s s. Pray you never have a friend or family member that dies from AIDS. You poor, pathethic fu ck.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
