the fiscal cliff is happening, should you crawl out of the basement and turn off the Xbox you may learn something.
debt ceiling....ceiling....no further.....the top.
no borrowing.
you know.....forced balanced budget. This comes in 3 weeks.
so when almost 2 trillion in annual expenditures is going to be cut, where do you suppose those cuts will come from?
Tell us O Brilliant dog warden of the mutt pack.
Why do you put a carriage return after every sentence (or fragment)?

You didn't predict the Michigan law. You said it was happening while it was happening. Big difference.
Yes, your fiscal cliff, government shut down prediction is whacky. Tell us about it one more time. They are about to announce the deal, so you better hurry.
tell me about the announced deal O Brilliant one........

over the cliff we went........

in a couple weeks the debt ceiling will be explained to all those as brilliant as you.

ceiling...top....no more borrowing.

but hey....you got the taxes raised on everyone including the 47% that had a 10 year vacation from paying them by that evil Bush.

Now you can pay taxes; and watch the govt shutdown a little by little.

there is no money; and now they are forced to play like people in realityville do.

so cutting almost 2 trillion from the 2013 spend of the federal govt effects whom?

PS: I receive nothing but bills from the govt, so my impact stays status quo.

I wonder about this and you, with each post of yours I read.

Tell me again about the deal Obama made today.

or tell me why he had to steal national airwaves to tell us what we already knew.

Obama is over his head with his job; and he failed yet again.

I suppose anything's possible there. Apparently he filed defamation and IIED claims three weeks ago.

The problem with the defamation claim is truth is an absolute defense, and he may have a few of those pesky skeletons floating around.

With either claim he has to prove actual damages, and that may not be a simple task.

I'm guessing the purpose of filing the suit at this particular point in time is primarily to influence the jury pool in the criminal matter and create reasonable doubt. He gets two bites at the apple this way, because much of the evidence surrounding any hate crime charges (if he was charged with any, I really haven't followed it) will be the same in the civil suit.

I think that the tape was edited for a specific reason, and NBC "claimed" they fired the person responsible, but refused to say who that person was. What I would like to know is if they really fired anybody, and perhaps it was a company decision to edit the tape that way. In any case, it did make Zim look like a racist, and given the circumstance, I would think it's very damaging.

Anyway, off to a party, so Happy New Year and to everybody in the forum. ;-D

Wow. Since those that built this nation owned slaves, I suppose we should be pro-slavery too lest we be spoiled children.
Talk about skewing the argument if not just getting off of it. Give us a break from the drama & exaggerations. The percentage of slave owners was single digits, even some Free Blacks owned slaves. Then PLEASE do NOT forget the Underground Railroad which was operated by Free Whites! Slavery was also legal in the UK, Spain & a tremendous number of other countries. PLUS, the 'slaves' were sold by other African countries, tribes, & clans while those same African countries, tribes & clans had slaves themselves Besides the Islamic countries many of which still do have slaves.

Che Che is correct that many of these programs are not the invention of DumBama. What he fails to recognize is that DumBama expanded these programs by including more people; expanding the minimum requirements. When you expand those requirements, you will have more people on the dole.
One of the first things DumBama did taking office was to increase the sales tax on cigarettes--you know, those making over $250,000 per year. But the program he used those funds for was started by the Republicans. He used that additional money to expand the minimum requirements including children up to the age of 26. That's not what the program was designed for. Same holds true of Obama phones, food stamps, welfare, and various other programs like SS disability. All programs not of his creation, but a political opportunity to expand the amount of government dependents.
Don't forget the racist act of creating a tax on tanning beds too. Then there's the fact that $250,000 buys very little in NY, LA, Dallas, Miami, Philly, Chicago etc etc compared to Mobile Alabama, Hartford, Bismark etc etc. The figure is too low & too arbitrary.

This should be good.

1) How is a tax on tanning beds racist?

2) How many people do you know that individually make $250K/year?

1)Ever see an African use a tanning bed?
2) How many people that YOU or I know that make $250K has absolutely no relevance & for you to bring it up is just a red herring.
3) Why not ask how many people that YOU or I know that live in Dallas, LA, NY or Mobile? Same as #2, "NO relevance."

You asked Pops. I answered.

I don't really engage in the "liberal"/"cons ervative" labeling game all that much.

That may be why you don't like my answer.

I find that people usually have varying opinions on different issues, and that often, they say one thing in public and do another in private (i.e. espousing an anti-abortion/pro family political position while encouraging your lover to get an abortion, all while being a married, elected official).

So I just don't think the label game is all that important.

Empathy though, I think is typically a pretty good gauge.
