The girls name is Melanie Moretti. Not Melotti. Please help us find this person who took my daughters best friend from her. She is a great lost to her family and friends.

I will pray this case is solved.
Prayers to the families of both girls.
How sad a Christmas season to have to bury your little girl. I'm so sorry.
I saw a friend get killed by a car when I was seven. I still feel the pain in the fall season.
Gods peace cover you all.

Ummm...excuse me, but do you know anything about this tragic accident other than what is reported here? Details such as how fast the vehicle was going? If you do, then great, enlighten us...otherwise don't make assumptions or criticize the poor girl who is the VICTIM here!

this happened on a side street that virtually nobody ever drives on. ashtabula just recently got a quite a bit of snow recently so the sidewalks, if there were any, were probably not cleaned off. that is a very ignorant thing to say, my friends sister knew this girl have some respect. I belive a white suv hit the girl, missing piece of front bumper, missing mirror, and some damage to headlight and signal

robespierre3 you are a looser for saying that and for your information some streets dont have sidewalks and another thing in bula half the time the sidewalks dont get plowed and bula got alot of snow so you need to watch what you say.....all my sympathy goes to the girls family..

The road this happened on has terrible visibility, you, what was it that someone else said? Terrible excuse for a person? She was a little girl. A little girl who will be sorely missed. My own little sister and good friends have been tore up all day about this. Don't talk about things you clearly don't have the emotional capacity to understand.

You are an idiot!! Vehicles should always be aware of pedestrians especially when sidewalks are unpassable. Maybe you are the one who hit this poor girl!!!???

There is no sidewalk on this street and even if there was, we have snow piled everywhere. She had no choice but to walk in the street. JMP ... you are correct, white SUV with missing mirror is the suspect vehicle. Anyone with info please call Ashtabula Highway patrol. There needs to be justice for this poor little girl. Prayers for Melanie's family.

Oh and Ashtabula is the largest county and poorest in Ohio, if you think for one minute sidewalks are on their list of things to do- someone lied to you. They're lucky to have drivable roads out there. I used to live out there so trust me, I know. Getting hit by a train may be dumb on a persons part because a Train is loud rumbling and doesn't have the ability to swerve to go around someone. A car can brake, swerve, and honk to warn someone as well. You are an idiot for comparing the 2. If I can swerve or break to miss a squrriel that is that small, than I'm pretty sure anyone could see a PERSON on a street. UNLESS MAYBE THEY WERE IMPAIRED OR TEXTING WHILE DRIVING....WHICH WAS PROBABLY THE CASE, SOME DRUNK HILLBILLY IS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THEIR CAR!!! Maybe it was some drunk like you or someone you know. You are a pitiful excuse for a human being! You'd be the first to be blaming someone else or suing the city if it was one of your loved ones. Then I bet you wouldn't be saying they were dumb!!! My prayers go out to the family, and if you are reading this: know that people care and that this idiot is far out numbered with people that have hearts. These kind of things don't just happen to folks walking or riding on streets w no sidewalks ect...construction workers get killed along the roadsides ever year working that close to traffic. And the drivers have all kinds of warnings in construction zones. People just don't even care and drive impaired or distracted by other things when they should be driving. I hope the person that did this gets caught soon!

Melanie was the best friend of my daughter. She is taking this pretty hard as well as all her friends that knew her. My prayers go out to her family and to all those who knew and cared for her.

Fargo last night was somewhat plowed but the sides of the road were covered. They had no other place to walk. This person or persons who caused this horrific accidient should come forward and stop being a coward. I hope they catch you soon...it shouldnt be too hard to find that type of vehicle with that damange to it around here.

You evidetly need to do some growing up, go back and read the traffic laws, pedestrians have the right away. Just like many of the drivers out there, Cars do NOT own the road and NO it is not NASCAR or diving like your playing a video game. This girl was killed because of a driver who was in control of the vehicle.

This is not the place to blame a 15 year old child for this. Melanie Moretti was a child of God. You have no idea of the talents this child held. Please if you know who did this please come forward. It will never bring breath back to that sweet child's lips but it may bring the smallest bit of peace.
Rest my sweet Lanie, I will forever miss you
