The Enduring Mystery Of Beverly Jarosz

Jan 18, 2008 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Free Times

“Monday, December 28, Bev and I got up about 8:30, 9 o'clock. We had breakfast and then washed dishes from the night before.”

Looking back, it seemed that Beverly Jarosz had sensed that Death wanted her. A vague sense of impending danger first stirred in the summer of 1964, around the time the 16 year old received an anonymous present ... via Free Times

After rereading Renner's chapter, I agree with MAC. It appears he brought the weapons to the house. Maybe the killer broke in and was waiting for her. Maybe she didn't have to let him in. It seems like there was a romantic link, though, that someone felt rejected or slighted. Schulte did attend the wake, but a neighbor saw him enter his house in a hurry. Paliyan was the one who asked someone how to beat a lie detector test. His was inconclusive. His relationship to Bev seemed too casual to incite so much anger, though.

I also noticed in the chapter that when her father came home, the side storm door was unlocked and the inside door was still open. Barb thought the screen door was locked. Maybe she didn't jiggle the doorknob enough. It made me wonder if Bev left the door open for Barb just to come in when she arrived, but the killer entered instead. I thought she talked to her mom on the phone at 1:00. I thought Barb arrived at about 1:20-30. It's hard to believe that all that happened to her in such a short time window.

I dont think she left the door unlocked being so afraid in all but locking the screen door and leaving the big door open the killer could have popped the lock on the handled and got in but if she let roger in to get something, maybe stuff he wanted back after a breakup she might not have told her mother if she wasnt allowed to have boys in the house alone.

That is a good point about her not letting her parents know if she let Roger in the house. I can think of 3 children who were murdered in the 80's after going off with someone whom their parents had not given permission to be with.

I have Renner's article but not the book. So in the book the side screen door is open? It did say a couple times in the paper the side doors were unlocked. Always a possibility something does take place that morning, as far as an argument rather than the night before. Good point, never thought of that before.

To me, an unlocked side door may indicate that Bev may not have "let" her attacker in. He may have just come in if the door was left open for Barb. Sometimes people let their guard down when they are in a hurry. Maybe Roger didn't know Barb was coming.
I also still wonder about that William Rehard character who abducted a little girl, and then killed himself in prison. There was a story that he confessed to killing Bev. The authorities and Renner gave the claim no credence. They thought he was pretty deluded. I wonder though if he knew her.

I read somewhere the in side door was open but screen was locked. if it was unlocked why wouldn't Barb go in knowing she was expected and hearing loud music one would think Beverly couldn't hear her knocking so go in and yell to Beverly she was there it's not like they were strangers I know I would. And if she was comfortable reading the mail she would have no problem going in the house

I read that Barb tried the screen door, but it seemed to be locked. But Bev's father claimed it was unlocked when he came home to check things out. I just reread that yesterday.

I had the exact same thought on Barb being comfortable enough to read a magazine on the front porch, but not comfortable enough to give the screen door a good tug. She was there for about 7 minutes.

I mentioned it earlier and to me, I do not understand why Margie Gorney, did not think to call Mrs. Vanek for over two hours, after Beverly and Barb do not show up at her home. It's not only Barb, it's both girls "just shrugging off" the fact there is no Beverly answering the door or showing up at the home for the get together. And both know how cautious and punctual Beverly was.

After many months of doing alot of research I have changed my mind on the above...I now believe I know who the killer is...I cannot say if Barbara was connected in any way at this time...but I believe I know who the killer is. I invite anyone to read all posts but especially the posts beginning on pg. 12 to the end which we are now on pg 30.

Barbara was the only one there that the whole world knows about. WAS SHE AT THE DOOR OR INSIDE WHEN GRANDMA CALLED? Or did Beverly think it was Barabara? BARBARA IS A PROBLEM IN THIS MURDER! I have never believed her story.

I wonder if Paliyan may of given some sort of closure, by either mentioning something to one of his family, or a note. It's said in Renner's article, He felt he was being "framed." You'd think after all this time, if he felt falsely considered as a murder suspect, he would want to "set things straight" for both families, at the end.

The rage in this murder was beyond belief what would make someone so angry to do this I keep going back to a break up "if I cant have you no one will" kind of thing which comes back to old roger if Bev told him she didnt want to get serious and his ego couldnt handle the rejection or he was to possessive and that scared her and she broke it off and he came over to get some things he gave her just the rage tells ya it was someone closer then a neighbor or stranger'

I wonder if Roger ran into or heard rumors about her previous relationship with Dan. If he was as strait-laced as Renner's book claimed, then he might not have reacted kindly to what he heard. Maybe he was jealous of Dan, who was home on leave. Maybe Bev was mentioning that she was going to visit Dan while he was home, and he couldn't handle it.

I just read online the article about the Detective Ferrini that tried to tell police that William Rehard admitted to killing Beverly Jarosz. He committed suicide, though, before the detective could obtain a written confession. The article stated that Rehard's fingerprints would be compared to ones left at the scene. I wonder if that was ever done. The article was at the top when I surfed the web about the Beverly Jarosz murder.

On a trip to Garfield Heights today (to visit a friend), I just had to see the Jarosz house since it was less than 2 miles from my destination. So I did. Wow, talk about foreboding! I had to steel myself to drive down that street. When I looked at the house, I was overcome with sadness, near tears. Yes, it IS very sad. I still can't imagine ANYONE buying that house ever -- but someone has.

I drove down the street also. It's weird it seems to draw you to it.
