The Enduring Mystery Of Beverly Jarosz

Jan 18, 2008 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Free Times

“Monday, December 28, Bev and I got up about 8:30, 9 o'clock. We had breakfast and then washed dishes from the night before.”

Looking back, it seemed that Beverly Jarosz had sensed that Death wanted her. A vague sense of impending danger first stirred in the summer of 1964, around the time the 16 year old received an anonymous present ... via Free Times

I wonder if Paliyan may of given some sort of closure, by either mentioning something to one of his family, or a note. It's said in Renner's article, He felt he was being "framed." You'd think after all this time, if he felt falsely considered as a murder suspect, he would want to "set things straight" for both families, at the end.

Hi Guys, Krawcyk as Annie said, was on strike from White Motors. He lived on Turney, katty corner across the street from the Tavern. I made it a point to view his house from Beverly's. Kraw. would of been able to have full view of Thornton and view the front yard and a portion of the front of Bev's house. It basically came down to his word that there was a blue car parked on Thornton VS Barb's. Barb time again told the police there were NO CARS. There is a rather large picture of him in the paper and he looks very much out of shape. I'm very much inclined to think he was just blowing smoke and looking for attention and/or or perhaps the reward.
i was 12 and lived on mccracken. i remember that krawcyk story was discounted soon after he made his statement. there was still some milk delivery, also western juice, jewel tea , fruit and vegtable man and bakery delivery oh yes and charles chips.

I don't think it was ever mentiond in the papers as to whether or not Roger attended the wake or funeral.

Lynn, by any chance did you know the Krawcyk family or the 20 or 21 year old guy, Bruce who lived on McCracken, that was also questioned by Det. Horrigan?

You're right on the number of route salesmen there were back in the 60s.

According to a relative, Det. Horrigan thought Roger's alibi was weak. If he did not attend the wake or funeral, that is suspect in itself. They had dated for several months.I had read that Bev and Roger went for a car ride the night before her murder. I'll bet that conversation was very telling!!

I meant a relative of Horrigan's. I think it was his nephew, and I read it somewhere on this blog. I just found out that my friend's father worked with Beverly's uncle. I am going to ask her if she ever heard of any opinions from the family as to who they thought the killer was. Someone wrote on this blog that there might be 2 people responsible. Other than Roger, I think the suspect that moved to Israel is interesting. I thought I had read that a neighbor saw him enter his home during the day when he said he was at work. In Renner's book I think he was the suspect who had asked someone for tips about passing a lie detector test. Was he a previous boyfriend of Beverly's?

Thanks Judy. Yeh, I know which post you're talking about. They went by the name of BMB. They seemed to be familar about the case, but then they stopped posting. A few other guys, besides Roger, were Danny Schulte and Paylian, who passed away last month.

I do remember reading in the papers, Danny was a suspect, but Horrigan did tell the papers, Danny Schulte had a number of witnesses saying he was at work.

Another guy Horrigan spoke with in Renner's Free Times artilce, was the student who lived behind Beverly on McCracken.

Annie: Yeh, it would of most likely sent up a red flag, if Roger did not attend either the wake or funeral.

But here's the question that bugs me: Whether Roger, or who ever, HOW did Beverly let "him" and NOT tell the killer "Barb will be here any second or minute" and yet the killer will paitently wait for Beverly to go upstairs, knowing any second Barb may come up the drive?

I dont see her letting a neighbor in because of gifts she got thinking one her neighbors sent them but someone she was dating she would. maybe he wanted to pick something up to get in the house or got nuts if she dump him.

It had to be someone she trusted and had a close personal relationship with. I don't think he arrived with the intent to kill, or he would have waited until she wasn't expecting company. It seems like something transpired during the visit that drove him into a rage. Did you ever hear of the statement, "There is a thin line between love and hate"? He had to be raging to inflict injuries like that!

I would have to disagree something transpired during the visit with Beverly. The killer brought a knife and also the rope or clothesline with him. By the time he gets to the house, he's already in a rage.

Did the authorities establish for sure that she was stabbed with a knife, as opposed to a letter opener? I know she kept one on the shelf in the bedroom, and I thought it was never found. I see what you mean, MAC. I wonder if she ever told her sister what she and Roger talked about on their ride the night before. She seemed to be pretty open with her sister about divulging details of her relationships. If they had broken up the previous night, you would think her family would have known about it. It probably would have been unnerving to Beverly.

The newspapers showed a couple times, the style of knife. Later on, they show policemen searching roof tops, chimneys, etc saying they were looking for a knife. So I'm thinking knife, but I could be wrong.

I totally agree, if there had been an argument or break up, I think Beverly would of told her parents and or Carol about it. Even when Beverly talks to her Mom on the phone that Monday afternoon, her Mom will say Beverly sounded like Beverly and didn't seem upset or worried.

I wonder when a murder is determined by police to be either pre meditated or a crime of passion? How far out, several hours, minutes, up to a day, etc.?
