Is this accident acctually on 480, my husband usually travels from 150th to 480, he will be heading out @11:00, will this tie him up? or should he find another route?

Saw the aftermath. Hit a pole wich was on top of the vehicle and also wrecked into the guard rail. Was a grey colord car. Thats all I could see. Prayers to this persons family.

The accident was on the ramp from 71N to 480E. That ramp is closed. We were sent to 480W and had to turn around.
It looked like the driver didn't go along with the curve and hit the guardrail. There was about 20 feet of guardrail out the back window.:( I'm so sad for the family of this person.

I know it sounds harsh but Alcohol was probably the main cause. Sad for the family, but at the same time atleast they didn't hit a car with a child or innocent person in it.

Wow... I had to drive past this on my way home and didn't think much of it since it did not look severe, my prayers go out to the family.

They needed to use the Jaws of life to release the pour soul from the car. My prayers are with all those this accident touches.

Such a horrible accident regardless if the person was intoxicated or not (no one should assume that the person was). My prayers go out to the family.

I drove by the accident last night at around 11 pm. heading down the 480W ramp. At that time the rescue crew had taken the roof off of the car and the drivers door was open. It was kind of hard to see but they where removing something from the drivers seat and putting it into a white body bag? It was very shocking and I was not expecting to see that.(very graphic) I am truly sorry for the victim and there family.

This is a very dangerous ramp. Fatal accident on Christmas day and the guardrail was never fixed! Someone else hit it during a snow storm and it was not fixed! Do you think maybe ODOT needs to do something more?! Maybe the water barrels?

Yes, it does sound harsh! I know this person and his family. I have not spoken with him for quite some time, so whether alcohol is involved or not, can't say one way or another. What I do know is that many people take the ramps off 71 to 480 at very high speeds often, so it is very possible he was just driving too fast for the curve. To Ray and Marie (his Mom and Dad)- may God guide you and give you strength in the upcoming days. I am so sad for your whole family!

Anne, I noticed the orange barrels too and wondered if they had fixed that guardrail. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Nothing was said about alcohol, you can't just assume that because there was an accident alcohol was to blame. That is a very curved ramp, just when you think you can accelerate you realize you can't. I don't take that ramp because of that. So lets not say anything about alcohol being the cause.

Why are you passing judgement on whether alcohol was involved? Do you know something the police don't? It could of been just as easily driving too fast or just making a simple mistake. Let the forensic test speak for itself. He was someone's son or brother or father. You shouldn't make such harsh comments. Its just wrong.

I hopped on 480W at Ridge Rd. about 8:20pm heading towards 71S......I arrived home in Brunswick about 8:45pm.....It had to have happened as I was passing by.....didn't see it till I watched the news at 10pm........At 8am this morning I watched the news again finding out that was a friend of mine in that car.....I am very sad that it happened but it makes me even more sad to read the comments made by inconsiderate supposed psychics.....psychics you say.....unless you were with him before or during the accident you have no clue what caused it, so until you have been proven to be a psychic or have the facts I'm sure his family would appreciate that you not pass harsh judgment or assumptions!

I hope when the day comes of your death that people you know remember that you called someone who died an "idiot" and a "mess on the roadways". How thoughtless you are! This was someone's son, brother, dad, and friend. You are mean and ruthless to describe a person who lost their life, whether by their own doing or something else, in such a heartless way.
