In Canada, self-defence is almost entirely forbidden and you will be prosecuted for almost any resistance to attack. Recently a man was prosecuted here for stabbing an armed home invader and another was almost prosecuted (they decided to drop charges) for detaining a shoplifter who had repeatedly stolen merchandise from his shop. This is a area in which, as an immigrant to Canada from the US, I do not generally agree with Canadian (and European) policy, which I think is too restrictive. Nor do I agree much with American policy on self-defence, which seems to me to be way too lax. Unfortunately people who make laws cannot think in shades of gray, only in black and white.
In such countries, I would far prefer to be tried for use of a non-lethal than a lethal method of self-preservation.

Some laws are made to be broken ... while you work to have them changed.

But I don't recall any "gun control legislation" as a result of that tragedy.
It's part of the price we pay for a free society.

So you AGREE, that NO "gun control" legislation has been passed.

And Zimmerman is no "friend" of mine. I said from DAY ONE that Zimmerman was GUILTY of murder in the death of of Trayvon Martin. I STILL believe that. He is GUILTY OF MURDER in the killing of Trayvon Martin. But a jury of his peers disagrees with me on that issue.
