Well, now, if the courts have to issue an order for them to be buried (because their families don't WANT to have anything to do with them), then who ends up paying for it? The taxpayers? If that's correct, then I say NO WAY -- why should WE have to? Whether the family liked them or hated them, they should have to take care of their own.

Your comments seem pretty harsh at any time, let alone during the Christmas season.

People are not claiming the bodies so that they don't have to be responsible for the burial costs!

readers can contact their local coroners office for a halloween treat for the kidz. a dead body in the trunk always excites the kidz and after halloween a mixture of baking soda and vinegar will refresh the trunk.

You will not be talking like this if someday your child is missing and he or she is one of these unclaimed bodies. Most of the unclaimed bodies are because they do not know who their family is or where they came from.

in Cleveland its probably too decayed to identify by the time the city finds it. I was at a show last week there, almost got hit jwalking by a police car with no headlights on.. too bad he didn't stop, I my phone ready to record it. Would've made a great youtube video!

It is no wonder that many bodies go unclaimed. A burial today costs over $10,000. When many people are working minimum wage jobs and struggling to keep themselves and their children housed and fed, they simply don't have the money to pay for a relative's burial.
