Yeah finder's keepers. When you buy stuff from a place like that how are you suppose to track where it came from. How do we know for sure the man was stashing the cash, maybe They made it up, to try and get some money. who knows, I don't think the couple should be charged.

the saying goes you snooze you loose - oh well for the women she should have checked out the suitcase before she gave it to the Salvation Army. The couple purchased the suitcase and the money should be theirs

yeah I totally agree. We all would do the same. They bought the suitcase as is. The salvation army should check for stuff like that. like pat the lining down or something

Is that different than buying a dusty old painting and finding out it is rare Rembrandt worth millions? Why is the woman who sold the suitcase entitled to the money if her husband indented to hide it from her in the first place?

And how did authorities find out about the windfall in the first place? Are they snooping into people’s private bank accounts looking for terrorists?

Meantime millions of undocumented Mexicans stuff their suitcases with drugs and their pregnant wives and come here illegally and we don’t do anything about it.

I agree..while the "right" thing to do may have been to report the found money it certainly should not be illegal to have kept it! Whoever donated it should have check it and isn't the Salvation Army responsible for checking goods that are donated?

I agree with everyone of you. I used to work for New Destination Thrift Store in Barberton. I went through pockets, purses, and luggage thoroughly. Yes I found money, never any large amounts like the one reported here. But what I found, was always turned over to the store manager. After that, it was left to his discretion about what to do with it. If he wasn't there, I put it in the donation jar. I also had people working under me, that were good about going through stuff, and doing the same as me. I'm also sure, there was more then one time when we missed something. So before you go donating anything, SEARCH IT FIRST!
