Boy do I ever remember this one. We were off school for a week! Of course, back then, you had to have weather like this for a snow day. Today, however, it only takes a couple inches of snow for them to call off when it used to be a foot or more then.

How many of you remember the blizzard of '68 ten years later? My Dad took movies of that storm. I bet they blame both blizzards on global warming!

I I was 12 and had a paper route. My dad told me that I still had to deliver papers. I trudged to all 62 houses on my route placing the paper in their screen doors (after digging them out). This throwing crap in the drive way wouldn't fly with my old man.

Wow, Blizzard Papaer Boy, I was about the same age then and also had a route. My mother tried to take me out in the car, but the inside door handles snapped off!!(remember, it was also pretty cold during this, too). I actually had all but one of my cusatomers call me and tell me not to deliver the papaer......

That was a blast! And we didn't even have cable TV!!!! I remember the snow went up past our side door!. Dad shoveled his away and was having so much fun! We where off school 1 week. We don't have snow storms like that anymore! Yesterday and todays cold weather is nothing compared to how it was in the 1970's. Scrapping windows, couldn't get your car door open! Aahh the good ol days. We haven't gone sledding the last two years! Global Warming? Although we all can't complain about the weather the last 10 yrs, I sure do miss the storms!

I was only six at the time but I do remember my older brother delivering the special edition newspapers on foot that day...I believe he also lost a bet that my father made him that he could stand on the porch for 10 minutes in just his shorts...luckily CSB wasn't around. Ha!

MY LATE HUSBAND AND I FOLLOWED THE STORM COMING HOME TO OHIO FROM FLORIDA. IT APPEARED IT STARTED IN TENNESSEE WHERE A LOT OF WIND DAMAGE OCCURRED....THEN AS WE APPROACHED OHIO THE ROADS DISAPPEARED. WE STOPPED AT A HOLIDAY INN AND THEY HAD NO ROOMS AND NO FOOD...SO WE WENT BACK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. WE PASSED THE TRUCKER WHO SURVIVED 6 DAYS IN HIS CAB, NOT KNOWING OF COURSE. THAT WAS ONE WILD TRIP FROM SUNSHINE TO BLIZZARD.

I haven't forgotten the blizzard of 78. The week before I had been in the house with a stomach flu and I didn't have a phone. So... during the blizzard I finally felt better and I bundled up and walked 2 blocks to the nearest phone booth in 70 mile winds to tell my folks in Florida that I was feeling better and that I was OK!! They at that point had heard anything about the storm we were having.

I was supposed to have a new furnace installed that day, but the crew could not make the journey. My wife, 7 year old daughter and myself huddled around the gas stove because the old furnace would not work half the time. Sure do not miss those days.

I remember our neighbor, David Bray, buzzing down Mull Avenue on a snowmobile! It was the only vehicle we saw all day.

I was working at the Portage County Courthouse at the time. We had idiot officials who refused to close for the day and didn't want to pay anyone who didn't come to work.

What I remember most was the wind and the huge snow drifts it created. In particular, I remember watching a squirrel get blown out of the maple tree in our backyard in Massillon and roll across the yard.

I remember two days later, when Chuck Norris came to town and put an end to this 'blizzard nonsense' as he callled it.

I was 21 and trapped with my parents in a 100 year old farm house in Wyandot Co. Ohio. With no backup heat or power for three days,it was unforgettable. We tried to stay warm by being in bed with coats hats and gloves on. It didn't work.Dad had half a pack of smokes which he rationed out. Food was soup thawed out in the can over a candle. When the storm was over an the power came back on, we had a terrible time getting the doors open to get outside. The drifts were so high, I was able to walk on top of our barns. My 75 Chevy Monza was parked somewhere in the barnyard. I found it by probing with a long handled shovel. Idug down 4 feet to its top and then me and two buds tunneled in to get it and dragged it out with a tractor. I hate snow and I hate winter in Ohio.
