Gadhafi forces defy U.S.-led might

Full story: TwinCities.com

But the firepower of more than 130 Tomahawk cruise missiles and attacks by allied warplanes have not yet succeeded in accomplishing the more ambitious U.S. demands - repeated by President Barack Obama in a letter to Congress on Monday - that Gadhafi withdraw his forces from embattled cities and cease attacks against civilians.

Defying U.S.-led might? Of all the nerve! What rapscallions taught them to do that? Must have been those pesky Viet-Cong, or Iraqis, or Afghanis. No worries, though. It'll work this time.

"Gadhafi forces defy U.S.-led might" Wow! Now there's a headline that's hard to believe, another country not afraid of America, go figure. However, let us try an figure out why. Why would countries that America invade just sit back along with the rest of the world and laugh at us, don't they know we are America. Well, the answer is very simple, we are America, a nation governed by inept decision makers with a false sense America is all powerful and the military police of the world, being directed by a special interest group known as the United Nations, which amounts to nothing more than an obsolete and very expensive organization that creates more ill will than it does promoting good will. The U.N. has outlived it's usefulness, if it ever had any in the first place, and it has to be eliminated, once America no longer allows the United Nations to dictate, rule and run America. Well, problem solved.

Because of Clinton and Obama It's almost guaranteed that Gaddafi will instrument terror attacks on the US.

Also one of our air craft crashed in libya last night.
This was reported on ABC, MSNBC, FOX and CNN
What is our objected in Libya
What is the US plan.

Obama stated when he was running for office diplomacy would work in the Middle East.
I guess he thinks bombs is diplomacy.

Obama the liar

What he really wants is an all out war.

With the US broke how the hell can we with stand 3 wars

OBAMA THE CANDIDATE IN 2007: In what circumstances, if any, would the president have constitutional authority to bomb Iran without seeking a use-of-force authorization from Congress?(Specifically, what about the strategic bombing of suspected nuclear sites -- a situation that does not involve stopping an IMMINENT threat?)

The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.

As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.

You may be right, however, It's not a matter of how quick people forget, it's matter of what options do people have, you included. Common sense intelligent Americans don't want our country to go to war, nor do they want all their jobs to go overseas, two main issues, war and jobs, neither of which the American people have control over, the control is in the hands of our elected officials, and for some reason the American voters are given two maybe three choices of what candidate they should elect to help run this country, and usually, the choices amount to nothing more than; Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest. And until we get rid of the 3-D's running our country, things will never change.

Actually

It seems in every situation Obama says one thing and does the opposite

Guarantee he is in the hot seat with Congress.

We are cutting the budget and now he's spending more in a war we should of stay out. The Pentagon told him to abstain
.
It's plain to see he is not for the good of America. His own Democrats are turning against him

The war for Italian Oil. Italy gets almost 40% of the oil drilled in Libya. Italy could take care of this situation if they wanted to, but they'd rather have the US pay for it and take all the blame. What is wrong with OBAMA? He campaigned on the promise of not doing this very thing? Here he is in 2007 in a Boston Globe interview, "The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation". This is the WRONG WAR, at the WRONG TIME, for the WRONG REASON!!!!!

Where is Al Franken ? All he did was complain about Bush throwing US weight around in the Middle East at every turn for oil and his buddies.

Now it appears the shoe no longer fits. He is just a lap dog for anything Obama does plain and simple. He just does what he is told.

Same thing goes for the silence coming out of Amy's office. What happended to our officials that campainged on an anti war platform now ?

I thought Obama was going to do thing differently, but it appears he likes to use the War Powers Resolution of 1973 as a crutch not to consult with the congress before sending in troops just like presidents before him.

The more things change, the more the stay the same.

A slight but important correction - French fighter jets fired the first salvos. To repeatedly phrase this as an America led assault is erroneous. This was a collaboration of France, Britain, Arab states and the United States, and UN aanctioned.

France wants to take the political lead and objects to NATO doing so, and the Arab League objects to NATO having full responsiblity. NO WHERE does it indicate the USA wants to lead this campaign. We may lead with the amount and sophistication of equipment, but that should not be misinterpreted as an eagerness to get involved in Libya. The air strikes and no fly-zone not only protect innocent civilians, it allows the opportunity for rebel forces to regroup. I sense it was a poorly planned revolt to begin with and perhaps the cruelty of Gadhafi was miscalculated. He would kill every last citizen to remain in power. He is truly as Reagan described him, The Mad Dog of the Middle East. Despite the media hype, I do not envision the US being drawn into this mess other than what we agreed to.
