Frankly, why should the public care to know anything more about Natalie Holloway?...
Apparently not, because those other cases were not white, blonde, glamorous and sweet sixteen. If Natalie had been a black girl from the projects, or a white redneck girl from the trailer park, the media would not have nasturbated constantly over the tragedy.
Time to move on. There are other newsworthy matters!
There may be an element of your description of the victim, but it's more that the story has many elements of a classic mystery.
Teen-age girl goes on high school graduation trip to tropical island resort.
Last seen with local boys.
Disappears. Since it happens on a relatively small island, it should be more difficult for her to have left with out being noticed or found if still on the island. And yet, where is she?
Return to local boys, one who was protrayed as little rich, bad boy. His father has political standing in the community. He appears protected. Over time he will tell various stories as to what happened, why? And now he appears to have killed another young woman.
Finally, it plays to all parents fears about their children going off on spring breaks and trips.
It's the story more than the victim's background.
