Having just read the ZION Benton Newspaper, I was rather disheartened to learn there was yet another shooting in Zion.(Not to mention all the other crime listed) This one again, was during the daylight, I believe the paper stated it occured at 3:36 p.m. on August 18th. Another scene were " NO EVIDENCE FOUND". I wonder where and how these shooters are getting their hands on these guns? This poses a rather scary situation for Zion I'd say,( definately worse than the haunted house). All these shooters running around with guns that no one can find. Does this mean the criminals are smarter than those investigating them? where is the police chief or mayor during all this? I haven't seen any letters to the residents of Zion regarding this crime or any others.
Who's taking care of the crime here?

another Saturday night in Zion .....
Time:
midnight.
Occurance: VERY large group of young people yelling/fighting on neighbors lawn.
This is the second weekend in a row this has occured, maybe the police could patrol the area once in a while to let these kids know that they are aware of this behavior, you think? Nah, not Zion police, they wait till they get a call about the full blown fighting, then say we're on the way, we'll be there in a minute, etc., The police patrol other areas why can't they patrol in our neighborhood? Lack of funds? Baloney !!! try another excuse !!!!

Once again, when the next mayor is elected(a white man) these situations will change. Mayor Lane Harrison is a section 8 supporting jellyfish. Chief Boothe likes to keep ae very young, immature and nieve police department. YOu have to take the law in your own hands. It may cost a little, but the results a well worth it.

Kudos!!! Your 100% right Mr. G. I am pretty fed-up with the incompetant police in this town. The Mayor is a descriminating fool as well. I have and will continue to take the law in my own hands.

I solved the crime problem in Zion. I got the hell out and I haven't looked back. The Mayor is a joke. I was a business owner for 15 years and was harassed by the police. Robbed twice, once in broad daylight. I am so thankful that I no longer have a business in the pit known as Zion.

You are all right, I wonder why no one else in Zion complains? Maybe too busy working 2 jobs to pay the OUTRAGEOUS TAXES we pay here... all So that our mayor can have a full time salary, on top of his teachers pension. What a plan, making sure you have a huge salary in place before you retire from that teaching gig you "love so much".

God bless the person who invented the video camera.
I know there are several positioned around the northeast side, east of Sheridan and north of Shiloh on residences' homes. My wife and I found a few while taking our morning walks (armed of course). They were strategically placed to monitor the police. They also monitor noise and consequently criminal activity which goes unchecked by the police. Thank-you, Illinois State Police for helping us fight incompitancy and bringing non-enforcement of city laws to the attention of the Attorney General's office.

Yes, Zion is Lake county's arm pit of crime, have you ever called the police station to report a crime in zion? Don't dare ask for the chief ... Whew.... attitude is what you get. I was under the impression that residents and the police were supposed to work together. I didn't commit a crime but reported one in progress, got nothing but attitude, and the old standby answer, " we're on the way". Zion isn't that big, a siren and a light can get you across town in a very short period of time ( ask any wisconsin driver traveling on sheridan road, they don't even use sirens and get through rapidly ) yet it takes the police over 20 or so minutes to get most places, unless of course you know them. It is very sad to say but zion needs some REAL police personnel, quite posssibility some sort of supervision. Maybe a police chief that is resident friendly instead of constant " in a meeting" friendly.
Why do you think the criminals flock to Zion?

I've seen more than my share of crimes being committed and gone unchecked. I hear gunshots at night all the time. Does anyone know how I can get one of those Police monitoring spycams put on my house?

Zion has little money and the lawsuits keep piling-up. Still, the only way to take out a cop is through his/her wallet. You need to complain directly to the Attorney General's Office. Enough complaints will cause action. Do not complain to the States Attorney's office. Assistant State's Attorneys like Victor O'Block are on Zion's side and, in my opinion, corrupt as well. Zion gives him all kinds of plaques and awards and wines end dines him. They could do a lot better for less.

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Aries

Financial muddles are more than likely today so be careful if you're going shopping. You might be accidentally short-changed or there could be a misunderstanding about how much something costs. This isn't a good day to lend friends anything valuable in case they don't return it or they damage it in some way. Better safe than sorry.
