Errant e-mail costs GOP chief post BY JENNY LEE-ADRIAN • POUGHKEEPSIE JOURNAL • SEPTEMBER 29, 2008 Dutchess County Republican Committee Chairwoman Corinne Weber has resigned over a chain e-mail she forwarded to party members, some of whom were offended by its content. Weber forwarded an e-mail to more than two dozen Republicans on Friday night that makes a veiled reference to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and suggests he is the Antichrist. The note, a bit of Internet flotsam that has floated around for months, inaccurately summarizes passages from the Book of Revelation. In fact, it refers to Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelations (sic). The e-mail contends the “anti-Christ” will be a man in his 40s who is of Muslim descent and has a massive Christ-like appeal, but will destroy everything when he is in power. The e-mail asks the reader,“Do we recognize this description?” read more here: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pbcs....

No surprise at the mess within the State of Texas and The TYC when our twice elected Republican Governor, Rick Perry, appears to speak in forked tongue (see below)! Rick Perry plays both sides on rescue plan http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared...

Montana GOP Voter Purge Effort Former Montana State Representative Kevin Furey (photo), a First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves, is presently in New Jersey preparing to return to Iraq. The reward for his service? Try disenfranchisement. At least that's what it could be if an error-laden effort by the Montana Republican Party to purge the voter rolls were to go forward. As is too often the case with targeted, partisan efforts to challenge voters and get them purged from the rolls, an effort by the Montana Republican Party this week ostensibly aimed at voter fraud appears to be, in the words of Matt Singer of the non-partisan Forward Montana, actually little more than an effort to "suppress the vote, targeting counties with large Indian, student, and low-income populations." Today, Lieutenant Furey released the following statement: read more here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-sample/ar...

By Los Angeles Times
At one time, John McCain said the worst thing that ever happened to him, Vietnam included, was the so-called Keating 5 scandal. "The Vietnamese," he would say, "didn't question my honor."
Among McCain's earliest benefactors in Arizona was Lincoln Savings and Loan chief Charles Keating Jr., who filled McCain's campaign coffers with more than $100,000 and hosted the McCains multiple times at his vacation home in the Bahamas.
Keating expected his largesse to be rewarded, and when federal regulators began looking into Lincoln's questionable lending practices and investments in the late 1980s, he turned to five senators whose coffers he had lined — Alan Cranston of California, Donald Riegle of Michigan, John Glenn of Ohio and both Arizona senators, Dennis DeConcini and McCain.
McCain attended two meetings with regulators at Keating's request. McCain's view was that he was seeking information on behalf of a constituent who was an important employer in his state. The regulators' view was that they were being pressured to act favorably for Keating.
Lincoln's collapse, the biggest of many savings and loan failures, cost taxpayers $2.6 billion. Keating spent four years in jail, before his sentence was overturned on a technicality, and the Keating 5, as the senators came to be known, lived under an ethical cloud for years.
During the investigation, McCain revealed he and his wife, Cindy, had not reimbursed Keating for thousands of dollars in flights on his company jet to the Bahamas. The McCains blamed each other, reported McCain biographer Robert Timberg, causing the first rift in their marriage.
Then, The Arizona Republic published a report about an investment that Cindy McCain had made with her father in a shopping-mall project owned by a Keating company.
In 1991, McCain, along with his four Democratic colleagues, was found guilty by the Senate Ethics Committee of using "poor judgment" for attending the meetings with regulators on Keating's behalf.
"I watched John just crumble," Cindy McCain told Timberg. "I've seen the glow go out of him. This is a guy who could reach for the stars, and now he can't — or he won't."

Of course Obama is pulling away now. McCain has tried almost every trick in the book to distract voters from Obama. From the "celebrity" ads with Paris and Britney, to the misleading ads about Obama teaching kindergarteners sex ed, to trying to pretend his choice in Gov. Palin was a well thought out consideration. It's like Halloween; no matter what you do to disguise yourself eventually the mask comes off and we see who you are. America is tired of all the tricks, we want the treat of Obama-Biden!

I only saw the part of the skit that showed how poor Mexicans and Negroes buying $700,000 houses brought down the world economy.
But I think the real reason for NBC editing the clip had to do with libelous statements made about two real people (not parodies) named Herb and Marion Sandler.
The Sandlers company World Savings did not make subprime loans. They did make option/ARM loans, but did so based on real appraisals and real credit scores. The company also held onto its loans and did not bundle them to be resold on the market. Bundling of bad loans was one of the main causes of the current financial crisis.
It's almost impossible to libel political figures and entertainment celebrities, but even SNL has to be careful about libelous statements involving non-public real people.

I hope the Tina Fey/Sarah Palin clips are still up. I wonder if a dazzling celebrity like Sarah could sue NBC for being made to look stupid by using her own words.

I think Joe Biden's wife looks better than Sarah Palin. Sarah scares me. She's got that beauty pageant contestant/mean girl/delusional religionist thing going on. I can't help imagining George McCain and Sarah Palin having wild, Republican, robotic, senile sex. McCain interrupts his labored breathing to shout "How'd ya like that, HUH?" "How ya like that POW junk, HUH?"

Inflammatory Republican rallies raise concerns Agence France-Presse Published: Thursday October 9, 2008 Shouts of "terrorist" and even accusations of "treason" aimed at Barack Obama have echoed around Republican rallies, whipped up into alarming, hate-filled frenzies against the Democratic White House hopeful. Republican presidential nominee John McCain has taken to asking, "Who is the real Barack Obama?" at rallies this week, leading one supporter in Pennsylvania, a blue-collar battleground state to shout back, "he is a bomb." Before the rally, local Republican leader Bill Platt warmed up the crowd by several times referring to "Barack Hussein Obama," focusing on the Illinois senator's middle name and trying to highlight his differences with other Americans. Chants of "Nobama, Nobama" mingled with cries of "terrorist," as one banner in the crowd declared: "Go ahead, let the dogs out." The stream of vicious attacks against Obama, who has left McCain trailing in the polls, were ramped at the weekend by Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin who accused the Chicago senator of "palling around with terrorists." read more here: http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Inflammatory_Re...
