Trevor Reese, deadly stabbing suspect, to be tried as an adult

A 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing an 8-year-old boy to death Thursday should be tried as an adult, a state district court judge ruled today.

Trevor Reese, 16, 13700 Sunrise Way in The Bluffs, was arrested Thursday and booked on first-degree murder in the stabbing death of Jackson Attuso, of Clinton, West Feliciana Parish Sheriff J. Austin Daniel said today.

District Judge William G. Carmichael ruled in a juvenile hearing today that probable cause exists to prosecute Reese as an adult.

Attuso was stabbed repeatedly in the front and back of his body and had his throat cut, Daniel has said.

District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla said Carmichael ordered Reese held without bail and set a June 16 hearing on whether bail should be granted in the case.

D’Aquilla said the judge’s reasons for transferring the case from juvenile court included severity of the crime and the age of the suspect, who will be 17 on July 31.

A grand jury is slated to consider the case Thursday, D’Aquilla said.

Thursday’s attack occurred on a wooded trail in The Bluffs on Thompson Creek, Daniel has said.

I hope they deny him bail at the bail hearing (we are not talking about the typical teenager here) this is a cold blooded baby murderer! He kills a little boy riding hid bike????? Jackson deserves justice this child should not have died. I pray our justice system makes an example out of this monster... So all realize that this type of horrific, brutal, unimaginable thing will not be tolerated !! To Jackson's family.. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for a very long time, I am so sorry for your loss of your beautiful baby boy.

Although I completely agree with the fact that the crime was horrific, I think we should all refrain from referring to any child as a monster. It doesn't matter why he did it, nothing will make it better, or bring back the innocent child. But instead of focusing our energy on speculations or saying hateful things I think we should all focus on the families hurt by this attack. Two families lost children on Thursday. Everyone should be respectful and allow those affected time to mourn. My prayers are with both families, friends of the families, and anyone else who has been affected by this crime.

you have no room to judge, you did not know him, i knew trevor personally. trevor was one of the sweetest guys i knew, there is obviously something missing here. you are in my opinion worse than him, by far. they are acting like he is a hardened criminal. he is not, he is a kid who made the biggest mistake anyone can make, he also probably has a mental problem. you want him in jail, and to make an example out of him? he needs help, you will make a monster out of him if you send him to jail, he is not a monster now, you insult him and everyone who knew him by calling him things like baby killer and monster. what happened was horrible, completly horrible, but it is not your place to judge. it never will be your place to judge, and god help me if you try to judge again. you are an ass.

"A friend". You sound like an idiot. Since when does someone sharing an opinion of a person who murdered an innocent child become worse than the person who is the murderer? It's understandable that you are in pain for your "friend" (Trevor). But it's a perfectly fair statement that he is, in fact, a baby killer. Trevor made a terrible mistake, ruined the lives of two families and now the families must figure out how they cope and grieve with their losses. Prison is NOT meant as rehabilitation but rather as punishment (this is my opinion). Prison will, unfortunately, likely make Trevor into someone who his parents never envisioned him to be. Maybe a monster. Maybe not. Trevor had a choice on Thursday and he chose something that ruins lives.
You have to get comfortable the fact that people WILL have an opinion (or "judge" as you say) and that IS ok that it is very, very negative about someone who kills an innocent child.

so say trevor has a mental problem which seems very likely, its your place to judge him for it? since i know you dont know him, and i doubt you knwo the victem from the way your acting, also prison was meant for rehabilitation, you just dont seem to think that makes sense because we really want to make criminals angry and more dangerous. but you dont know him, use empathy, believe me i feel horrible about the child, i have friends who knew the victem, and i feel horrible, but that doesnt provide reason to crucify trevor like you are. you want revenge on someone you dont know.

What part of him brutally murdering an innocent child do you not get? That makes him a monster. Yes, he obviously has somthing wrong mentally and there is probably nothing that can be done for him.
What do you, his friend, think should happen? You want him to go to a psychaitrist and talk about his feelings for a while and then go back free like nothing ever happened? I don't think so. He will probably spend the rest of his natural life in east even though I personally think he she slowly bleed to death.
I do feel sorry for both families, but, this sicko is still alive while his victim is not!

"Innocent until proven guilty right?"
He walked up to someone an confessed. He's for sure guilty.

On the other hand I am 100% he is seriously mentally ill. Only a psychopath could jump out of the woods, slit a 8 year old child's throat and then stab him multiple times. He clearly needs major help. But he'll probably end up with life in jail.

I'm sorry for those of you who were friends with trevor. I understand that you all are also suffering a great loss.

He has confessed, he is guilty. It is sick to think there are people who feel sorry for Trevor. The only sad thing regarding Trevor is he won’t receive the death penalty.

I find it hard to belive this is the first time this kid has done something like this, maybe not to this degree but mentally ill children have history. I blame parents for not being attentive to this child, they are partly to blame they should have seen flags and diverted this act. Prevention is the best defense. I dont care how sweet good nice or saint like you are if you dont know you kid, and obviously these parents dont or they would have done something, then your not worthy of parenting. I know that these parents are probably so in shock but there should have been signs. I am just saying!

I am more convinced that "A Friend" is probably a 13 year-old foolish little girl with a crush on Trevor and who has no concept of reality. No one is crucifying Trevor. People are reacting - quite naturally - to the news that an innocent 8 year-old was brutally murdered by a 16 year-old (sure fools, maybe we'll SAY he's innocent until proven guilty; but let's not completely suspend logic - he confessed to other people who called 911 and is now being held without bail). No one in this thread can pretend to know WHY. Intent is not for us to figure out right now.

Even people who are angry right now are feeling empathy for Trevor's family, the victims family, etc.

"A Friend" should decide what he/she really believes about prison before writing. In one sentence you say that prison is meant as a place for rehabilitation but that people in prison only get more angry and more dangerous.

The real crime that happened ~1 hr ago was that someone didn't stop the myriad idiotic statements on this discussion board. Mostly thanks to "A Friend".

I may not have known the killer, but I do know the victim and his family, I can judge the fact that this baby did not deserve to have this happen to him. He was a happy and loving kid with a great life ahead of him and he was brutally killed by a monster.

I don't care if it "is not like him" IT IS HIM! Don't be sanctimonious about judgment of a killer! I don't care if this killer has mental problems, all killers have mental problems! THEY HAVE KILLED OTHER PEOPLE, ON PURPOSE! I don't think you people defending this killer would feel the same if that was your child dying in your arms!

I hope he spends the rest of a very LONG life in Angola, and I hope he spends every minute of it as scared as that little boy was in his last minutes of life!

Maybe you should find another "Friend" friend.

AFriend,
I'm sorry you are upset about your friend, but sweetheart, your friend murdered a little boy in cold blood. He may have been a good person before however he took out a knife and stabbed a little boy to death..(open your eyes) To attack and bash me shows the amount of pain you are in.. Perhaps you should seek help yourself. I'm sorry your friend killed someone...and I do feel for his parents, but I'm afraid I feel a little deeper pain for Jackson's family.. This should have never happened. This little boy deserves justice, because he did murder a baby..

"Hard2blive" - you are either an idiot, NOT a parent, or both. Would you please clarify for all the other people reading your comments who might actually be thinking rationally?
