Are they talking about moveing Cityhall out in the country or is this project going to have it's own Townhall?

Is this the same group that tried to get the citizens of St. Francisville and West Feliciana to pass a tax to pay for their development?
Why would we agree to tax ourselves to pay these developers?
This is the same type of development as Perkins Rowe which has been a total flop for the poor people who bought condos over the tops of businesses.
How many of the developers of Americana have already filed bankruptcy?
This will become a governmental project which could overly exposed the citizens of Zachary. to a terrible debt. Baton Rouge is already trying to increase our taxes to pay for their problems.
Have you noticed the bankruptcy that is going on in Birmingham, Alabama? The county can not afford to pay for this development's sewer system.
Let the developers pay for their own sewer and infrastructure..... They are trying to take advantage of the citizens of Zachary.. East Baton Rouge Parish will not give them this money and that is why they want to incorporate with the town of Zachary. If they become an EDD, they get to keep the tax money for their development. It will not help Zachary..

Need to google "Zachary Field of Dreams".
They tried to get a sales tax voted in St. Francisville to cover the same development. If Zachary is going to get a cinema, doesn't it make more sense for one to come into the already develooped area??? They promise whatever they think will get them a sales tax passed... They will bond out the money and be gone, gone leaving Zachary with a debt, debt, debt...

"The Economic Development District will use tax increment financing to fund the projects with one cent of undedicated sales tax coming from the city and one extra cent of tax imposed in Americana."

Do you really think bonding out your tax dollars for this is a good idea? You will be paying for a very long time for their development?? Did the other Zachary subdivision developers do this??

Sounds like a good idea to me. You all should visit River Ranch in Lafayette. That is more like what Americana will be. Perkins Rowe is not quite the same as Americana or River Ranch in that it is smaller and only has condos. This new place is going to have lots of houses too. It'll be good for Zachary. Will be great to have a movie theater there.
