I get really frustrated when this becomes a "race" issue. Here are just a couple of things I'd like to get off of my chest:

The legal immigration process requires you to do things to show your dedication to this country. The Mexicans who immigrate legally are saying "I no longer want to me a Mexican. I want to be an American!" When I say "a Mexican", I mean a citizen of the Mexican government.

It concerns me when "Mexican Americans" fly their Mexican flags, speak only in Spanish, build their own churches, grocery stores, etc. Part of the "melting pot" process is to melt. Not coagulate into a group of areas and try to re-create your country on US soil.

The term "Mexican American" scares me. Even more so than "African American" .. Africa is a continent, not a country. It's also not directly below us.

At the current immigration rate, this country will soon be be more than 50% Latino. I think it is imperative that everyone who comes here be ready to be a loyal AMERICAN. Period.

If someone wants to come to this country (from anywhere) because they have read about the "Land of Opportunity".. because they feel like they will have a better life and help other Americans have better lives.. because they want to be a part of this country and they're willing to go through the proper channels to do so, however challenging that might be.. then I would be proud to have them as a next door neighbor.

Here's and idea, people:

It's called "illegal immigration" for a reason. The Social Security system is strained enough and free health care to Illegals doesn't help. I have no problem with people immigrating to the United States legally and properly; becoming sworn citizens and whatnot. But when thousands of illegal immigrants pour across our borders each year without going through the necessary legal channels, it really chaps my ass.

If you dipshits can't understand that principle, then go back to school. Stop watching CNN and MSNBC, stop reading the New York Times and start learning the damn rules.
