Yukon teen run over twice by SUV

What began as a relaxing lunch period with friends ended with a Yukon High School teenager being run over twice by an SUV, Monday afternoon.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU LAY ON THE PAVEMENT WHEN YOU HAVE A GRASSY AREA RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU? I MEAN "HELLO"!! GLAD THE YOUNG LADY WILL RECOVER BUT HOW IGNORANT AND IRRESPONSIBLE.

There are 2 things wrong with the way this was handled and how it all happened. First of all, and most importantly, WHAT KIND OF PERSON WOULD "just decide" TO LAY DOWN IN AN EMPTY PARKING SPOT? That's just not smart..... but the second thing wrong with this is that believe it or not, it IS possible to look at a parking spot before you turn into it. I've taken Drivers' Ed, and trust me, you CAN see the bottom of parking spots, even if you're backing into it. In fact, it's the law to look!

Stupid is as stupid does...... Proof that common sence cannot be taught. Oh and finally what a great parent who lets their kids use their cell phone at school..... Maybe next week she can start driving while texting also.

She is not really a kid. I mean the girl is 17! Also, Tyler it says the guy was parked in the spot next to her, so I don't understand how he backed up on her unless she was hanging out in the parking lot beyond the space. So will she get fined for laying & texting? You know people would be having a fit if it was the driver texting! People just don't pay attention to things when they text.

I am glad she is safe & hopefully she will be more careful.

So, Jeep parked next to her....NOT an empty parking lot apparently. I do agree, regardless of age, upbringing or common sense...you just dont 'decide' to lay on the hard dirty ground because you want to text. Sounds like horseplay, someone got hurt and no one wants to admit fault. It is amazing this girl did not get herself killed, but sounds like at the rate she is going, give her time.

OMG,. just another example of another teen that went out back and probably got so high that she couldn't make a rational decsision to not be stupid and lay in a parking spot to text for more drugs. maybe next week she will be getting high and driving.

Next week she will be recovering from her injuries. She made a poor decision to lay in the parking spot. She definitely does not need strangers judging her and assuming the worst of her because there just happened to be an accident.

If judging people that you do not know makes you feel better than I suggest you examine your own life.

Ya know, she is 17 and yet not mature from the sounds of things, kids will be kids, they make STUPID choices, some make smart choices, that is how they learn! Thank goodness she will be ok! As for the person who claimed she was stoned out of her mind, well, I DOUBT that very seriously, she was at lunch from school. Now days kids are more into texting then getting high LIKE YOU DID in school! Not to mention, I know a lot of people who indulge smoking pot, I also know alot who drink, the ones who smoke pot don't go to jail for drunk driving and in my opinion, I would rather be in a car with a pot smoker then a drinker !

I agree with you, she is a kid who thinks nothing will ever happen to them, like all teenagers do, and the to the people who are judging this poor young girl, you can not tell me your were perfect when you were teenagers. No one was we all learn from our mistakes and hopefully live to tell about them.

I remember while stationed in Germany the TV commercial's reminding G.I's not to sleep in tank track's. To many were getting run over. You can't teach common sense.

Stupid is as stupid does and you can't teach common sense. This incident just illustrates in my opinion why America is doomed. If this girl is an example of our future, we are so screwed.
