What other events has Redlands ever hosted that can attract 10,000 people, all intent on having a good time? Yes, some people there will use drugs. 42% of all US citizens claim to have tried pot (No, I don't smoke, drink or take illegal drugs). But that's a problem with society, not Pharaoh's business plan. If you're worried about your kids going to a rave to "do drugs", then you have a larger problem than a CUP for a licensed business. Do you know all your kid's friends, and their parents? If you do not, then get involved in their lives! But don't blame the rave for drug use. That's like saying a kid can never go into Barnes and Noble. because (gasp!) they sell Playboy.

If the City would have required the Pharaoh's parties to be held consistent with the conditions set forth in the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for the venue, this private venture would be allowed to continue, and the City wouldn't have to be spending our money on litigation to close it down. This is a real "loose/ loose" situation, all because City officials have been remiss in requiring the operation of the park to be conducted in compliance with the park CUP and the Municipal Code related to outdoor events. The City Manager should be terminated immediately, in order to attempt to limit the the City's exposure and liability in these proceedings. It has been publicly announced that Martinez has compromised the City's position in the Pharaoh's dispute due to his "relationship" with the parties promoter and the venue operator.

Maybe Nabar's wife can write an e-mail to the Redlands Planning Commission directing them how to proceed with this matter, since she is so familiar with conducting the City's business related to the rave events at Pharaoh's??

Add an additional $10 city surcharge to each ticket and require that Redlands PD be hired to provide offsite security. Create a city-controled parking lot and charge another $20/car. Tow away all other cars. If the little brats want to party, let the city make money and reduce its budget shortfall.

Code Enforcement needs to get after this place, too.

The owners have let weeds in the park grow to the point of being a real fire hazard and what's left of the *water park* part of this operation is now a big, green, stagnant puddle breeding mosquitoes.

Don't be fooled by how well the OUTSIDE of the park is kept up, inside it's a very different situation!

Umm..If it really looked like that at the park, Then NONE of the events would be going on. Especially the last 2 events.
Pictures, please. Or it NEVER happend.

Glad to see Redlands going after these guys. We don't need this kind of stuff in the Redlands/San Bernardino communities. God knows, we've already got enough problems to contend with! And a very big "Thank You!" to the Redlands Police Department!

Behind The Scenes,

Yes, there is a huge green puddle where the slide pool used to be, and weeds inside the park are tall enough to be a fire hazard.

If you don't believe me, go see it for yourself.

The place, in it's current state, is indeed a health hazard.

The City suit will be quite the spectacle, providing plenty of fodder for the RDF.

Redlanders, imagine what you’ll be giving up in the way of City services just so you can read about this court spectacle! A few less trees trimmed, a few less flags for the Fourth of July, and maybe a few less periodicals in the library. All of this just so the City can hire real attorney attack dogs to help Redlands save face over the Rave debacle and the City managements’ ugly disassociation with the Rave promoter. And don’t forget, when the Rave promoter wins (he’ll win, just think about what’s gotten us to this point), even more City money will flow his way – maybe he’ll get an honorary hanger at the airport!

And don’t forget about the best part of the whole trial - It will be fun to watch key City management served with subpoenas so the defendant’s attack dogs can grill these fine men on their contributions to the status quo – maybe they’ll be served during a council meeting!

If the raves are put to a stop, who is going to pay the mortgage on the rave promoters house, from which he is renting from Martinez and his wife????? I'll bet he gets a raise to cover it!!!!

although I don't like Pharoh's as a venue, shutting it down leads to a whole new list of issues. Raves won't stop, they'll go back underground and as an old schooler I'd love that, but sadly I've accepted that times have changed and underground parties are harder to control and keep kids safe at. At least with a venue there is hired security and permits involved, although not keeping things legal, at least keeping the kids safer then an abandoned wharehouse party with nothing but event staff.
Part of me understands where the parents are coming from, but then my upbringing kicks in and I wonder what the problem is. I started raving at 13 (Far too young, but it happened); at 15 my dad found out I was going to raves and instead of getting angry, he went with me to one. He saw how irresponsible a portion of the attendees were, and he also saw the good time my friends and I were having and how for the first time in my life, I looked comfortable in my own skin and that I was being responsible. But then again, my dad was an involved parent and took interest in everything that I did, to at the very least understand it. I think today's generatiion's parents are part of the whole busy life style and don't have time to get involved. If they can they should step back and try to. ask your kids about the beads and the big pants (I don't agree with the whole running around in undies thing, Bring back Phat Pants!), ask them about PLUR and why this all appeals to them. If they say drugs and dressing provacitivly then they should ne going AT ALL. But maybe they're there for other reasons, maybe they feel that the social structure of High School is rediculous, maybe they don't feel like they fit in better in a place that's excepts them for who they are not what they can accomplish.

then again maybe I'm just preaching to deaf ears.

You do know that there are at least 4 other "rave" venues in San Bern County, 3 of which are just blocks from Pharaoh's.(just sayin')

The one business in Redlands making any money - by all means, close it down instead of figuring out ways for the City getting some money out of the deal.

Snap some pictures and take them to the 2:00 PM Planning Commission meeting. This is the kind of mess that goes unreported when the private and public sector is involved in a pissing contest (because both are responsible for the current condition and state of affairs).
