What does that cost the taxpayers? Parents who can't control their children should be charged the fees of the search. And then give the little brat a good stiff whoopin' and chores til he's 18. Quit bother the populace with personal problems.

I have never seen such an enormous search and right away. He ran away. When he was hungry he would come home. That is unless there was abuse in the home...then that should be reported. But I can't believe the helicopters echoing through the valley about the lost boy. My first horrible thought was some child molester had taken him. Then we were almost asleep and the phone rang to search our cars and back yards...give me a break. Don't our police have better things to do or was this person wealthy? Or in a high position in the government? I feel sorry for the spoiled child that caused such an uproar in the community - I have three children and one ran away - he came home that evening. The police were called and said they waited 24 hours to report someone missing. Go figure.

Carol, I'm sure you aren't as cold as your post attempted to make you sound. A family's greatest asset are their children. Thank God, Yucaipa has an outstanding and progressive Chief of Police in Captain Lee Hamlin! Many communities aren't afforded a lower crime rate like Yucaipa's. They were able to call everyone out and do everything they could. Please check Megan's Website for registered Child Molesters in Yucaipa (Please go to http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/ ). There are a bunch and still on the prawl and molesting our children. As far as the Police telling you they won't search for your RAJ child for 24 hrs., Carol that simply isn't true. Be enlightened and thankful your children are home and safe. Thanks Chief Hamlin.

To Carol & Chief Hamlin,
I have to say Carol is correct when she stated that the police refused to put out a search and rescue after 24 hours, because the same thing happened to my little sister. The police told me that she was probably out with one of her friends and if I there was no sign of her after 24 hours then to call back and file a missing person's report. Thank God that the little boy did return home safe and sound. The parents are very lucky that the police acted so quickly this time.
