That's the issue. Now that this event is happening, what legal basis would there be for denying another womanless pageant to raise money for, say, the Klan? Would that not be viewpoint discrimination?
I'm no constitutional scholar, but once you permit a fund raiser on public property, you cannot then deny fundraisers on that property on the basis of their point of view.
It's like specialty license plates or roadside cleanup sponsorships. It's all fun and games when the local Red Hat Society chapter sponsors a roadside cleanup and gets a road sign for recognition, but once you've done that, the door must also be kept open for the Klan to do the same thing. See, www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,143879,00.html . "Court Won't Block KKK From Road Cleanup"
Not good enough? How about pro-life license plates that raise money for pro-life groups? Guess what? Now you have to let pro-choice groups raise money with their own specialty plates. You'll find TONS of material about that with a Google search.
Same thing here. Be careful about what you open the door for here...you never know what kind of fundraising events you might have to open the schoolhouse door to in the future is all that I'm saying.

Obviously most of the writers here are not aware that Hiawassee and the adjoining counties, be they GA or NC, have had Womanless Beauty Pageants for quite some time now. In fact, my entire family, including my OH SO straight husband attended 2 or 3 yrs in a row. It is very entertaining and done in much the same style of the old days with Milton Berle, Jack Benny, Jerry Lewis, Flip Wilson. It IS NOT a flamboyant, gay, trasvestite, drag queem extravaganza! It's a FUND RAISER for CANCER-people! Many of you have dressed up like clowns or cowboys for your kids school fundraisers-Do you realize how many kids are terrified of clowns? Or are you worried now that your children will venture now into "The Village People" addiction? It is our job as parents to train our children to be good people and to live by the standards and morals that WE expect of them. If you are so uptight by the idea of a small town fundraiser having such a strong influence on you or your family-then, I agree-YOU SHOULD PROBABLY STAY HOME. This may very well be a dangerous night for you.

You criticize the Bible, but you can't even cut and paste it correctly. I don't know what version that is above, but its not the KJV. Perhaps its the Queen James?
