Not sure about all of the post. The part about a couple of students trying for Valedictorian who are doing most of their studies online it right on target.
Neither can obtain the necessary grades if required to do so in a classroom setting, absent of their mothers help. Both scored poorly on their SAT which is very telling proof of their inability to function at a high level when mommy is not there to help.
Standardized testing is not an indicator of anything except knowledge and probability of succeeding in a real college setting. Those two issues have been debated here far to much. The proof is in the pudding.

Your inability to use the proper homophone leads me to believe you are the product of the same regime that educated these students you write of. Once again, bring on the change!

My better 3/4 took (and passed) classes from her RN on line - but had to sit for a pass/fail test on each course at North Georgia. Brutal way of doing it but she's now an RN....

Isn't that the way they do on line courses in high school?

I find it amusing you revert to correcting grammar when you are proven wrong. Time to change your posting name. Momofmany has a credibility issue. As do the people you lamely attempt to defend.

No, just pointing out the ignorance of posters. Change is needed. Have you ever read some of the things these students write? Let the house cleaning begin with a new administrator.

You have to start somewhere...rules are rules...discipline is needed. Everyone including teachers should follow the rules...and BOE staff kids should have to follow the rules too!

The need to do a little more house cleaning. Middle school math and english, elementary teacher who enabled a pedophile and gave him free access to our children, Guidance Counselor who has no clue, three positions in the Superintendents office and two in the administration at the High School. About 6 bus drivers and their empty busses. Nobody would even know they were gone
We are running out of coaches...everyone is getting lazy or badmouthed by the parents and giving up coaching and we are running out of good coaches.

<quoted text>Thank you Mrs. Williams for that brief explanation of why you hired the son of one of your best friends. If Age doesn't matter then why not let one of the Seniors run the joint? Some of them have about as much college and experience in being a principal.
Believe me when I tell you it is a lot more than a few teachers and it is most of the student body that think that. You will learn that very soon.
When people lack education, maturity, knowledge and experience they make up for it by projecting a tough guy persona. Shoe Fit?

We need to invest in our educational options and our students.
We need more teachers and not overpacked classrooms and admin workers eating bon bons.
Let's spend money on our teachers and students and not on admin
personnel in the Board Office.

Would that include the school board members daughter that sent obscene pictures over the Internet. Then instead of getting fired the Superintendent prayed with her?

My daughter told me the young man our Superintendent hired last fall and now wants to promote to Principal is about 25 years old. She said the kids don't like him and the teachers don't like him. She said all he does is walk around trying to be a hardass all day about dumb stuff. The kids all say the only reason he is here is because his Mom is best friends with the Superintendent and his little brother was a good QB for the football team.
When is this madness going to stop? Why can't we have a good school system like the Town featured this month in the Georgia BREMC magazine. A small town with great schools and three famous people, two musicians and a baseball player. This same town was featured in the AJC a few months back. They asked the Mayor the secret to a great town. He said "our citizens elect the best people for office then hold them responsible to do good thing. We hire the best people we can find. If they already live here great. If not we want those people in our community. The best way to get them here is give them a job."
Why can't we do the same thing here?
Why can't we have a community like Lee County you ask? Because if you read the article it has a picture of the chairman of the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS presenting a plaque to Phillip Phillips. They have a Board that runs their county which provides for fresh ideas and a checks and balance system. In Towns County we have a Senile old dictator who will be in place until he dies and they screw him in the ground. Until that day comes Towns County will be under his control. Get used to it.

Good luck to those of you stuck here. Moving is a nightmare but the thoght of our kids going through another year of school here was a bigger nightmare.
