This habit of molesting children by priests never seems to end. Can any of them ever be trusted to be around children again? They won't come clean with the truth. How are we to know they're not still at it?

A few bad apples donít spoil the whole bunch. Should we close all schools, the same thing has happened in school? Should we shut down our road because they are death traps? We will always have someone "still at it'!

MAYBE you should go to CURCH with them!

I have read to upwards to 30% of Catholic Priest are gay. That's a problem. A former family that was a neighbor attended the Catholic Church between Young Harris and Blairsville, about 12 yrs ago, stated they had a Priest openly living with a man. Sure gays have infiltrated all churchs, but the Catholic church has exploded with them.

They will if you leave them in the barrel with the good ones, as the Catholic church has been doing for decades.

Since so many of them are child molesters and others are homosexual, AIDS must be a problem with them as well.

Regardless, I'm not willing to let my child around a priest because I don't know what they are or what they might have - and I don't want to find out the hard way. You can risk your child, but I'm not going to!

Do you think this problem is just about priest? how nieve and ignorant, Rabbi's any group of men with authority and power have child molesters. Even the might mighty Penn State. The Catholic religion is not ammune to it, nor is any other religion. The Jewish comminity keeps their secrets, very secret. Rabbi's preachers, men of God are all guilty.
The Catholic Religion has paid a heavy cost for these rotten priest, but to say its a Catholic problem is ignorant.

They lead the pack with the most gay Priest. It's expected in the Catholic religion and tolerated by the folks that worship them.

Stephen Hawking Quote "I have lived with the prospect of an early death for the last 49 years. I'm not afraid of death, but I'm in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first. I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. There is no heaven or afterlife for broken down computers; that is a fairy story for people afraid of the dark."

As an agnostic, I find Priests, Shaman, Rabbis and other self appointed religious leaders the same as any other profession. There are good ones and bad ones. The only thing special about them are the element of surprise for the blind followers.

Live as you wish, believe in what you feel comfortable with. But, do preach to me about anything and I will afford you the same respect.

If you are unfamiliar with the term Agnostic please don't confuse it with Atheist. I neither believe or disbelieve. Until someone can prove it, I will remain inquisitive.

I don't hate Catholics. I respect them.
That said, I think they need to go back and read Genesis and think a good bit about how God, after creating all the animals, decided that none were a good companion for Adam, so he created woman. Not only did he create a woman to be man's companion, he told them to be fruitful and multiply. And, yes, that meant to have sex and have babies.
In my beliefs, I don't believe God intended for man to spend his life alone. I don't believe he would think it any different with a priest of a church. After all, the Christian religion morphed from Judaism, and Jewish priests married.
Naturally, the argument will around about how Jesus was not married. But Jesus was also the son of God, and was to be a sacrifice for our sins, so I believe his mission on earth was more important.
The point being that putting man into an unnatural way as to expect a priest to never marry or never have sexuality in the way God intended has unwittingly caused more deviance. So I think the Catholic Church should reconsider their traditions - and traditions is what they are, as the bible never outright says a holy man should not marry.

I have read the martins roamed the earth and built most of the ancient temples in the world. I have read that god is dead, that whites are smarter than blacks, I have heard my neighbors make the same claim. You really have no clue what you are talking about, as for the Catholic church exploding with them, come on now, exploding with "them". The them that you speak of is the result of the tolerance our country has for others, you should try a little.

You should also do a little fact checking before jumping on numbers and spreading a lot of pure BS.

Pedophiles are everywhere. Anyone who believes otherwise is asking to be a victom. Churches, schools, coaches, teachers and every other walk of life. The real culprits are parents who rely on others to raise their children. The freedom/alone time, many children have is the reason creeps have access to them. Keep an eye on your kids, raise them properly and quit pawning them off on someone else and you will have little to worry about.

True, but study will tell you why priests were prohibited by Rome from marrying. It has nothing to do with God, Jesus or religion. They could still have sex and keep mistresses, and father dozens of bastard children, that was okay, but at the root of it is - money - and the power it affords! Some priests had great wealth and power that rivaled that of Rome, but not being able to marry in the eyes of God or man meant that when they died they had no legitimate (legal) heir and their entire estate reverted to Rome.

Au Contraire my socially challenged, former educator friend. Perhaps the mention of child molestation in our school cause you concern. I quick check of the statutes of limitation may be in order.

Molesting children and homosexual conduct by priests is part of the Catholic culture, sanctioned (by silence, secrecy and inaction) by the hierarchy.

Gosh, you're so right. Why in the world would I think that I had a right to talk about religion in an open forum entitled "Catholic Church." What was I thinking?

More of your famed brilliance and humor, Dumbo. You meant, "Au contraire, my...," and "causes you...," but then you are stupid. You do have an abiding interest in child molestation, Pervboy. That is concerning. Get help.

The Catholic priesthood has become a magnet for pedophiles and gay men, much like San Francisco is and Key West was (and still may be), only as priests, they hide behind the venerated clerical collar knowing the brotherhood will do everything it can to, "... protect them from all evil...," meaning the law and public scrutiny.

Proof of that can be seen with Pope Benedict XVI. As Cardinal Ratzinger he had the responsibility of dealing with perverts within the ranks - and in effect protected them by transferring the ones caught, by keeping their illness hidden from trusting parents, by not reporting their crimes to the police, by paying off....

By historical standards he would not have been elected Pope, but he was, causing one to wonder if the other Cardinals knew he was "one of them" and would shield them as he had been doing for years, in thousands of cases.

That, IMO, makes him culpable of a most egregious crime, and me suspicious of his sexual orientation.

How pervasive is it within the Church?

I rank those Priests right up there with all the reformed drug users, wife beaters, pedophiles and alcoholics who are now ministers in our town.
