I don't know who prayed to what God for rain, but it worked, thanks to somebody out there. Maybe if we all did it again, well, we might get some more. You think? ;o)

Don't ask for too much, mind you - it ain't right to be be greedy - just a little bit more. It was so comforting, you might say reassuring, to go out on the back deck when it was all dark and still, and scary, and listen to the staff of life coming down.

Big fat fluffy flakes falling upon the Hiawassee Ingles parking lot around three o'clock.

The word in the produce department was that it had also been snowing in Warne.

'Course I had to buy milk and bread and water in case of a blizzard...

No problem, Lifetime, I don't believe everything I read either.

But I'll take the weather prognostication of a produce guy over a meteorologist any day...

Good evening friends! What a wonderful day! The snow flurries were a surprise! In enjoyed the little "snow show". I hear the Farmers Almanac is calling for a very snowy winter. Go Snow!! Go God!

I want to apologize for my response on this forum to a post about the election. I logged on with good intentions but saw a post I just had to respond to. In looking further, I saw it was posted to every forum on the Young Harris site. I am new to Topix but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

Blessings to all and have a great night.

It has come to my attention that Chris Clinton's signs are being stolen. This morning about 90% of his signs were missing. It is not the state, county or city taking the signs down because they have been contacted and said that they did not take them. Chris Clinton's large signs have also been cut down. A police report will be filed about this destruction of property. If anyone has seen someone taking these signs please contact Chris Clinton at his website, www.clintonforsheriff.com . Since there are only two candidates running in this election, and I do not think that Mr. Clinton would take down his own signs, who do you think is behind this. This seems to be another negative attack on the most qualified candidate running. First we had the ad run in the Herald by Gary Hicks, although a lot of people thought that Rudy Roach also had something to do with it. People of Towns County now is the time to make a positive change in our area. We need to elect the most qualified person for the job of Sheriff of Towns County. Go to the polls on December 4th and vote for CHRIS CLINTON. There will be a rally for Chris Clinton this Saturday, November 17th, at Mary Ann's Restaurant in Young Harris starting at 6:30. Come out and meet Chris and show that you are supporting him.

If you want a good view from atop Brasstown Bald, go to:

Sometimes, like today, it's a little slow on loading but worth the wait. It's also great to watch the sun come up on there.

I keep checking NOAA hoping for a mention of impending snow, but it looks like it will be a smidge too warm for a white Thanksgiving for the visiting Florida nieces and nephews. Wonder what it would take to get the politicians working on this?

The fire is out thank God! Don't forget to thank your local fire fighters. I gave a hug or two to some of the guys today.....you should do the same. Our local fire fighters drenched houses with water that were close to the fire and kept vigil 24 hours a day until these homes were safe. God bless you. We appreciate every time you come to our aide.

We thank the many men sent in by the Forestry Service as well.

Some of the out-of-state crews are staying an extra week to make sure there are no more flare ups from the fire.

Great idea! Start a new thread on just this subject so we can be advised. I'm certainly in!
Just wanted to let you know I have not forgotten. The fire chief is putting me in contact with the person in charge of the local red cross. The Red Cross did an outstanding job during our fire. According to the fire fighters I have talked to, all their needs were met. I think providing a little variety would have been nice...plus taken the financial burden off just two or three local merchants. I hadn't even thought about their laundry needs, etc. I believe Young Harris College took care of that.

As soon as I have the info needed I will post it here. What I think happens is that the Red Cross keeps our names and phone numbers on file and contacts us as needed. The Red Cross coordinates everything, that way we don't "bump into each other".
