Public meeting with FEMA and DNR concerning that since 1998 entire Towns has been designated floodplain.

Currently anyone building, buying or refinancing a home is required to purchase flood insurance, in many cases unneeded insurance.

Meeting today, thu. 17th 5:30 - 7:00 @ Towns county courthouse This will be your only chance to have an input on the issue, and view the proposed maps.

That was "quoted" a dramatic email I received within 24 hours of the meeting.

The new requirement is that if you hold a mortgage from most banks, you'd be required to obtain expensive flood insurance - if your home is located within the "flood zone", unfortunately FEMA is going by 100 year old information, so best to keep up with any mistakes they could have made. has updated information about changes to the floodplain.
