Just looking for questions, concerns, ideas on how the budget can be contained next year.Or, are you happy with another tax increase to keep the current craziness as is?

Until the board stops hiring/employing their own children/family they should stop county funding!along with state and federal funding. This happened in Chatham Co.and a metro county. The Gov.can remove a local board at his/her own will.Obviously the local election board overlooked state law prior to last election.

TC Schools are the classic definition of "Insanity".

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting to get different results!!

Let me count the ways:
Cut the following,
1.Coaches who do not teach real classes
2.Empty buses going into the school
3.over-funded athletic programs
4.Family Connection
5.excess admin staff
6.asst.principals(for a 1200 pupil system)
7.120,000 per year for Supt.(insane)

Just the beginning!

There are some simple ways to save at least 750,000 . Follow the requirements set forth by the department of education. All they have to do is read their website. It's very simple.

If the state cuts funding, will the feds cut funding also? Will the entire budget be left up to the local tax base?

It can't be contained. The federal government is cutting back on grants to the states who are cutting back on grants to cities and towns, and since Towns depends so much on that money, taxes will have to be raised just to stay even plus county contributions to the retirement account will have to be entirely funded through general appropriations (budget), if they aren't already.

they say history repeats itself. when my mom was school age their parents had to pay for them to go to high school. grades 1-6 were free.
things just might get where grades 1-6 got to pay.
back in that day the highest grade for most people was 6.
education is the most vauable thing there is. however there are really smart people an some really dumb people. with education dumb becomes smart.

Wrong sequence. The money trail begins at the federal level. They send chunks down to the states who, after taking a bite, distribute it to counties, cities and towns. So, the feds will cut first, then the states, then those in the food chain below.

It will never be cut off entirely simply because to do so would mean loss of control.

The tax increase this year is but the tip of the iceberg. Towns County Tax assessors office have inflated the valuations and failed to bring them into line with the market. That is why Bill could cut the mileage. The Base is about 50% over value. Anyone who appealed their taxes this got them lowered. When people find out their property is over valued by up to 70% the assessors office will be forced to cut it.
All the Counties in Georgia except Towns and two other have adjusted their tax rolls downward over the past five years by an average of 60%. Towns County has adjusted down by less than 20%. When the State steps in and does an audit or the lawsuit hits the values will drop another 40%.
Your taxes will go up 50%. Grab your ankles.

Lazy parents will not get their kids up to ride the bus in the morning. Buses are full in the afternoon and so is the line of pansy parents in their cars picking up their kids.

Thank you Mr. Bus driver. I am at the school most days. The bus is not full at night. They could cut 30% of the routes and not miss a thing. You are part of the problem. Dead weight sucking funds from education.
