We are the Church

1 Corinthians 12:12-26
12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body-whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free-and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.14 Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. 15 If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.

We are the body:

Ephesians 1:18-23
18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Christ is our head

Colossians 1:17-20
17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

It is not about finding a "Good Church." It is about being the Church where every we are 24/7. It is about UNITY in Christ.

Colossians 3:14-16
14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

1 Peter 2:9-10
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Ephesians 2:19-22 (#10 of 10 Bible Verses about the Church, the Body of Christ)
19 Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. 21 In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. 22 And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

If we are the body, why aren't his arms reaching???

If We Are The Body
------Casting Crowns

It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girl's teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ

Jesus is the way

Funny, Floridian. Welcome to the Church of TRUTH.

The Church of TRUTH is filled with as_holes. One more won't matter. All are welcome at this Church. It doesn't matter if you are hypocrits, athiest, humanist or as_holes. We all sin, but GRACE is greater than than any of our sins.

I'm not picking on Timmy, As a Christian athiest he pesonifies what the organized church has become. The bride of Christ has become a collection of little holy huddles of stupid rules, because he has listened to the LIES of the Christian Athiest of the pulpit. Those who do not need Christ, because they have their laws to get them saved. He thinks you get saved by joining the Baptist church. He thinks scripture other than the King James Version is junk. He thinks all Catholics are of the Devil and going to hell. I will not take my Catholic frindsto his church.

The End of Religion Church

In the Church of No Religion, relationship has no room for the trappings of religion. Believers and seekers alike will discover anew the wondrous promise found in our Savior (Jesus Christ). And Christ’s eternal call to walk in love and freedom will resonate beyound the church walls. Our movement is filled with leaders of all ages and denominations. It is time to take back the Church from religion.

Thank you for the invitation and your recognition of this personality trait. While I admit I have been , at times, refered to as an as_hole, I have also been refered to as a decent person with a good heart. I am not knowedgable as relates to the Bible nor do I have any desire to be. The Bible to me is very similar to a Corporate policy and procedure manual that is used as a guide and is always subject to interpretation. On this thread, people can't even agree on which Bible is the correct one let alone what the passages mean.

Good luck with your Church. If this is an actual chruch, you might consider a sign in front that says: "We Welcome All As-holes". You might be surprised how quickly you will fill the chruch to over-flowing.

Great post.

I'll put you down as a good and decent person who occasionally can be an as.hole. Sounds like most of us humans.

Organized religions often seems more about maintaining and growing the organization, than it is about any other purpose, vehemently attacking those who don't believe, and professing to have the one true path to God.

Not exceptionally surprising. Organizations have pushed their brands the same way for millennia.

The great thing about religion is that it's like politics - you can never actually "know" who is right or wrong because we get to decide the criteria for that as we go along.

The thing is, that without organized religions, we would have missed out on most wars, genocides, and murders, and the profits, never forget the profits.

If we see The Creator as a point at the center of a three dimensional sphere, there is no boundary to the sphere and any point aside from the center is in sight of the center, then there is no single path.
