I would expect that coming from a chevy darlin. Thank you for noting that but please recognize that I paid attention and noted in my post the questions I asked. After you do that, will you answer the rest of my posts and such. Please and thank you darlin. Have a great day!

The airport is a high t ticket item that is expanded and maintained just like the new community center for the town elite. Lamar and Jim have the same bosses and serve the same masters. The public is the means to support these items.

Why is the expansion needed? Do we have so many takeoffs and landings that there is a need for expanding?

I'm afraid that it is our local Drug Lords who utilize the airport.

The paper has this about the airport expansion, "It's a free enterprise airport, meaning the money it generates goes back into the airport fund, not into the general fund.'We pay for ourselves,' Hamler said.'We operate in the black and pay for everything associated with the airport. It's sometimes hard for people to understand, but we're not a tap on city finances.'

Earlier in the article, it says that the city contributed $42,380.31.

If the city contributed this amount and the airport revenue goes only to the airport fund, then there seems to be a contradiction. What's the explanation? Thanks.

I caught that little gem too. Of course, maybe that money came from the city's airport fund, but who knows. It would be helpful if our rotund and spectacled newspaper editor would spend a little more time digging in and clarifying those types of things.

Did you by chance notice that their was 40 odd planes at the airport but they could accommodate 100's more? Well If you aren't maxed out why spend the money. Course the money is coming from the Feds and the State. Well guess who the Feds and the State get their money from. I am so tired of the half ass newspaper and our all ass politicians.

That's the problem with our country these days. The Feds are handing out gobs of money for all these "pork barrel" projects, all while we have a tremendously large national deficit. Seems like someone up there in Washington would come to their senses and figure out that projects like these simply ARE NOT NEEDED at this point and time. Sure, if we were rolling in cash, I'd be all for a great big airport, but not when we're nearly bankrupt.

Our city and county govt. is leading us like cattle to slaughter. If you read the all knowing North Ga. News you should have noticed that in the last 6 months the Mayor and council have put the taxpayer inside the city into a huge debt. Look at the purchase of the property on the 4 lane. You have about 200 tax payers living in the city. If you take the 1.6 million that they paid for the property and divide it by the number of taxpayers then you have 8 thousand dollars debt for each taxpayer. Now they will start developing the property into what a handful of selfish arrogant busy bodies want and you will see some real debt. The hell of it is that the biggest of these busy bodies don't even live in the city but just have the urge to run everything. They sure did a great job with United Community didn't they. The city will end up like the Paris regime and buy and build what a few people want and letting the working stiff pay for it. Do you see one member of the council that has any experience that would lend them toward running anything?

How many people actually fly here?
At the last doctor continuing ed weekend at Brasstown Valley Resort, one of the speakers that had flown in remarked that he was suprised that there were over 80 planes at the airport here.

Oddly enough, when he asked the audience of 60 how many had flown here, only 3 raised their hands.
